You forget that online and long distance relationships are still bona fide--your proof of knowing him for four years, meeting several times, and getting engaged is just that: proof. The USCIS claims they do not discriminate based on types of relationships, and I would imagine that includes the wealth of people on here who met and held relationships virtually for years before or after meeting in person. I think your problem here--your mistake--lies in how you're thinking about your relationship as open to question when after more than four years of knowing each other and over a year of being engaged/meeting in person, it clearly isn't.

I met Jake on a meet up site in June 2013 (it hasn't even been a year!), but I was already in Britain on research. When we decided to meet after a few short convos, I took a walk 5 minutes down South Clerk street in Edinburgh to a pub across from where he lived. We dated for two months in person from there, and continued long distance when I left in August. I went back to the UK in November 2013, we were engaged in January 2014, and he visited me in the US and met all of my family in March 2014. Now I'm back in the UK for 7 weeks (on funded research, but I'm staying with him--free accommodation + I see my love!) and can be part of most of this process with him. I'll be attending him to his medical, and hopefully his interview (but I doubt it will occur that fast--I leave June 21st). But my point is: I'm not the least bit worried about their questioning of our bona fide relationship--and I'll have been with him and known him for only ONE YEAR by the time a June/early July interview rolls around. We got our petition approved, no RFEs, and I was painfully clear on my 129F about this timeline, showing them our initial convos on the meet up that marked the date as June 2013...because our relationship is real--and that is also extremely clear for us, our families, and apparently to USCIS. London consulate will be a cake walk (I miss cakewalks, you guys) because our relationship is so easy to prove, even though it's been just a year. I just finished reading this thread and asked him: What's my favorite food? He said: "Not sure you have a favourite, but you get the most excited when we go out for sushi or seafood." Dead on, and we never even discussed it.

Your partner knows you. It's why you're getting married. You'll be fine not because anyone else shows you a link, but because your relationship is bona fide by feelings AND good god--by TIME.

I like this. On paper you have a very very similar relationship to me and my fiancé, except we met on a meet up site (Match) when I was in the states in December 2012. We went on 1 date & didn't see each other for 6 months. We spent last summer together and thanksgiving and Christmas in America, before she came to visit me in Scotland and meet most my family in March 2014. We only therefore had photos from June 2013 onwards. No issues, no RFE's. I got approved at interview today. Because as you said, if you have a real relationship they aren't going to trip you up.

And for the record, the officer I had today gave the impression that she loves her job, and more so loves hearing everyone's stories. She told me that herself.

P.s. I hope you get am interview date whilst your still in the UK, but be prepared, for yourself it's going to be so boring sitting and waiting :)

I know this is a slightly old thread but I though I'd add to the comments (for other people reading). If your relationship is genuine then London certainly is not out to get you. In addition you can fluff a few things and it still won't go titsup. I've just had my AOS this week. I managed to get my age wrong ! A jab in the ribs and a correction from my wife caused much amusement to the IO.

Mr and Mrs style questions ? Well most men would probably get those wrong and the IO's know it so it's really about the "vibe". IO's have seen all shapes of relationships and plenty of scammers. They can tell the difference between the two pretty well I'd have thought.

And for those going through London K1 - I can guarantee you'll find it a breeze if your relationship is genuine and you make sure you comply with their requirements in terms of documents. My top tip ? A properly arranged (small) folder where you can easily pull out all the documents they ask for. I can also guarantee you won't believe me until you walk out that door with a spring in your step.

My back up plan is to get married in the UK and persuade my husband to apply for citizenship here. Or live in a very expensive cross-atlantic long-distance relationship, which may include raising a child by myself.

<vent>

As an aside, I think London is easy up to a point. So far, I'm finding the embassy part of the process isn't going as quickly as the CSC-NVC part of the process. It is possible to comply with all the guidance and still find that there is a delay in your case because of mysterious administrative processes, over which you have no control or input. <end vent>

Thanks, tried that. On submission, got an error message - plus it wiped everything that I'd entered. When I find my patience again, I'll try once more. Failing that, I'll put the dates in my signature instead.
