Will there be any visa or tax issues for you living in the US and working in Canada?

Sly

Not that I expect, because I'll be spending more time in the US than in Canada. I've been doing consulting work in BC / Alberta for a couple of years, and am in the process of setting things up in the US so my consultancy will be US-based, but with Canadian clients.

Thats interesting since I have a very similar goal. I would be interested to hear how easy or complicated this is.

Thanks.

Sly

I was told by an accountant who did cross-border taxes that once a Canadian moves to the US to reside, declaring bankruptcy on Canadian debt is not an option.

This website has forums where you can search and/or ask questions that might get you more qualified answers than this forum.

That is correct.. Canadain courts would no longer have jurisdiction over you since your residence is in the US... Who has control of the bankruptcy proceedings is not dictated by where the creditors are located, but by where the debtor is located...

Ok. But what about after the marriage but before the move (K3 still in progress)? Any issues there?

Sly

No idea. Check out the forum link I supplied...they're a cross-border accountant with forums for people immigrating. :)
