Hi! I was selected for further proccesing on DV-2015, but now I realized that one of my family name is missing one letter (MEDRAO instead of MEDRANO). Should I contact KCC? Can I be disqualified?

Also I would like to know if I have real chances of getting a GC since my case number is 2015SA0000012XX.

Thanks.

I don't think it will be a problem at all ! Just put the right name when you send your ds230 app.

??? Giving a wrong family is a very serious issue for denial of the visa!

This year because of kcc software lot of applications came out faulty, I even got an email from kcc...

So I think he will be fine and its only one letter ;)

Their mistake has nothing to do with the data people put into their eDV. And exactly, one letter is missing, so there could be an application with the right name or a different letter missing = multiple applications. Not saying that is here the case but this is the way KCC will think.

Well, now he is been selected so he never got rejected if he applied twice.

Check this :

This e-mail is addressed to any Diversity Visa 2015 (DV-2015) entrant who attempted to log into the Entrant Status Check (ESC) website on May 1, 2014. For a brief period on May 1, the ESC website experienced a technical problem. As a result, some people who logged into the site to check the status of their applications were shown the wrong information. If you logged into the ESC website on May 1 and saw a notice of selection that did not include your name, or if you saw a notice that you were not selected, you must re-check your status to find out whether or not you were selected.

You must see a notice that is addressed to you by name as proof of selection to process further in the DV-2015 program. We regret any confusion this technical problem may have caused.

Please note that the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) will not send you unsolicited e-mail that includes your confirmation number or that asks you to provide any personal information. You must log into the ESC website to check your status. If you have further questions about the ESC website or the content of this e-mail, you may contact KCC by e-mail at KCCDV@state.gov. The KCC telephone number is 606-526-7500 (7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. EST).

Buckyball is correct and it is usually a problem, and a misspelling can hardly be blamed on the KCC software.

It's very difficult to say what will happen as in some instances people are disqualified and in others the COs seem to recognise it is just a mistake and grant the visa anyway. I think OP's suggestion to contact KCC is the best option at this stage. In any case, DS260 should be filled in (correctly of course) and sent back - remember KCC cannot disqualify you, only a consular official can decide. KCC would flag the file however as the name is different. And then hope that the CO can see it is just an honest mistake.

Hm, that option never occurred to me, it's a good point. I would expect in a case like this then KCC would check to see if there was an application with the correct name in the system. They do say that they can disqualify you at any time, even after selection notification, if they discover there was a duplicate entry.
