Lost Birth Certificate

Hi all,

My wife doesn't have her original birth certificate. What do we do when we have to file for the DS-260? She has had UK permanent citizenship since age 14 and a valid passport. She was born in Marka Somalia. They sent the UK her birth certificate but it was lost in the process. How do proceed with the application?

thanks

I have the same issue. You will need to get an affidavit of birth from a close relative ideally her mother or father stating , name, date, place of birth and both of her parents names, then you will need to have it notarized. I have been a little lazy about getting my parents to do this, but it is pretty straightforward, I have even seen templates online.

I hope this helps.

Most definitely. Thank you for the advice. I've seen this elsewhere.
