Hmmm.. I do remember a similar topic here when an Alabama representative called Clarence Thomas an Uncle Tom.. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/480857-ala-dem-calls-clarence-thomas-uncle-tom-disparages-marriage-to-white-woman/

So a politician is willing to use the race card and is willing to sacrifice anyone for the sake of an agenda.. standard fare.. CNN called him on it, good for them... Next!

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect

Head Black/Muslim here,

Uncle Tom shouldn't be used because of it's racial connotations. It doesn't matter who says it, it's wrong and the politician should have known better. It's in the same vein as saying the N word. You don't get a pass because of your skin color. He could have called him something else, a jerk, or douche bag.

Carry on.

LIB uses red highlights and you use blue. You guys are like Darth and Luke Skywalker (light sabers). Except this time the black guy is the Jedi. Yeah, I'm a nerd, what of it?

Here's the difference though. It wont be running on the news 24/7 like the TM/GZ thing or the story about the owner of the LA Clippers has been. It's a double standard.

Agree. It is the exact same argument I use when someone uses the "N" word. I call them on it and usually they try to use the ridiculous argument that it is OK if they act a certain way. If a white guy acted that way they wouldn't have called them that hateful word.

Ok first of all, I'm not like Luke. If you're going to use a comparison, then I'm going to have to roll with Mace Windu. Meaning I'll start using light purple as my font.

You're not a nerd. You know Star Wars. I'm a geek. I played D&D when it was cool to have a negative AC, what!

I don't think people should call either other Uncle Tom. That's all.

I didn't say this either. Please show me where I posted I agree with the comment made?

I can promise you that I will not post or say anything just to be the opposite of anyone.

Huh? I never said that you did. Now you just want attention from me. :content:

Because someone didn't lose a life or try to demonize an entire group of people. Please tell me NB hijacked your account.

I didn't say you did. Lucky said he thought that term was racial and I agreed with him. You mentioned it was disagree with you day and I told you why I agreed with lucky. Uncle Tom is a term black folks use to insult other black folks that are doing the white mans bidding from what I understand. Very dismissive and condescending thing to say to an accomplished black man like Clarence Thomas just because he disagrees with him on something.

Derogatory, yes, racist, no.
