Hi vj family.. Does anybody knows how much DNA cost?

Our petition for my daughter got denied on December 2013. We submitted an appeal which conclude a letter from my husband explaining why I am not the parent on my daughter BC. We got the BC fixed. Hired an atty and went to Philippines for hearing. We submitted all the court docs along with our appeal as well.. We received a letter from USCIS saying that "the possibility of fraud in this case is high" they insisting that my husband is trying to petition his sister in law which is my daughter. They wanted more evidence. I am thinking DNA but they didn't ask for it on the letter.

Please folks help us. I been away from my daughter for 2years in September. Although I try to visit her once a year it is not enough. I haven't talk to an immigration atty to ask for advice. We are in tight budget and we are barely getting by. We spent so much money to get her BC fixed and other thing associated with it. Not to mention the petition we paid $420 and appeal for $110. I'm so lost and heartbroken dealing with this whole immigration thing.

I hope to hear from you guys soon.

Correcting the birth certificate is just the beginning. Congrats with that because now you are officially her mother.

Now, immigrating the child is another thing. You have to convince USCIS that indeed you are the bio parent. I think this is not a DIY situation. You have to find an experienced immigration attorney who can better advice you. I hope someone here can suggest one.

Good luck!

DNA is about the only way to go. You have to use ab AABB certified place for it to be accepted. I am not sure how you get it collected there if the embassy didn't ask for it ( in a way they did by asking for more evidence ) I would find an AABB dna place then contact the embassy about collection of your daughters sample

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

That's what I thought, I read posts that the USCIS will ask for it. I couldn't think of anything else that I can provide to prove that she's my daughter. We submitted all the court docs and updated/corrected BC.

I am going back to Philippines next month to see my daughter I'm thinking about having it done there. But I do not know how to do it. If I need a letter of request for DNA from USCIS.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that in the case of crba's, you pick a lab, and st Luke's does the collection and sends it off.

Sounds like yours is a tricky situation. Hoping for the best for you and yours.

don't I need a letter from them requesting from DNA?

Is this the case where your mother was listed as your daughter's mother on the original birth certificate?

Yes my mom was listed but we got it fixed. We are now dealing with the immigration for almost a year now .

It’s unusual to get a letter from USEM declining your visa application without an explanation. The only thing that I can gather from what you have said is that you must prove that your daughter is your biological daughter and with DNA testing you will be able to do that. I'm thinking that when a BC is recorded a year or more after birth, a DNA test will be required almost 100% of the time.

A friend of mine went through the process for a CRBA for a child and I thought I would share the steps he took thinking that this might be a good step in the right direction for you. Of course, the good news this procedure you can do on your own and not involve a lawyer, thus saving you some costs.

It begins: The US Embassy ACS Section via email sent us the procedures on what we needed to do and a copy of the memo from the Examiner indicating that we needed DNA Testing. They also provided a list of AABB Labs Accredited International DNA Center in the US that we can contact.

On 20 Oct 2013 we contacted DDC DNA Diagnostic Center Baltimore MD for Paternity Testing at http://local.dnacenter.com/DNA_Diagnostic_center_Baltimore_MD-t14355_Baltimore+MD.html and the cost for the DNA Kit was $449. It includes three DNA Kits, cost of shipping and handling both ways (kit from USA to USEM Phil and samples from Phil SLEC back to USA DDC DNA and results to USEM from DDC DNA) and processing fee for the DNA Result.

On 25 Oct 2013 the US Embassy ACS Section received the DNA Kits from DDC DNA Diagnostic Center Baltimore MD. According to the instruction memo from the ACS Section once they receive the DNA Kits they will contact St Luke’s Extension Clinic and set-up an appointment.

On 11 November 2013 we got an email from St Luke’s Extension Clinic indicating that our appointment was set for 5 December 2013 at 10:30AM and another appointment on the same day at US Embassy ACS Section at 12:30PM.

On 5 December 2013 at 10:30AM we went to St Luke’s Extension Clinic to register and pay the fee of 1,500.00 peso. You can go there earlier which we did at 9:30AM instead of 10:30AM since it is just for registration and payment. First you will proceed to the 4th floor and register. Once you are done on the 4th floor you will proceed to the 5th floor and pay the fee then back to the 1st floor to fill out some forms, get digital photo and finger printed for their files. Then you will proceed back to the 4th floor for final instructions for you next appointment at the US Embassy ACS Section. We had to bring the following:

· Your US passport or valid ID

· Child’s NSO certified birth certificate (original or photocopy)

· Mother’s passport or valid government ID

· Drinking water for child if 3 years old and below

· Two pieces 2x2 photos each with white background, if you have not yet submitted photos at the embassy at the time of your application

On 5 December 2013 we proceeded to the US Embassy for our second appointment. The actual DNA collection took place at the US Embassy, 2nd floor Cubicle 13 or 14 at our appointment time at 12:30PM but we had to be there 15 minutes prior by 12:15PM. Once we were there the lady that will do the DNA testing gave all three of us a plastic cup and told us to go to the CR and gaggle five times before the test. It took us 45 minutes to complete the DNA Testing.

Now just waiting for the final results.

This was their experience. IMHO, I would start with USEM and determine the cause for declining your application. If you determine that it was the lack of proof that she is your biological daughter then I would request the DNA test be conducted and if USEM would be satisfied with the results to continue your application processing.

Good luck.

When we did our DNA test, I paid $750 for the whole thing plus $50 each for my daughter and Wife I am in the states, so they forced me to use the DNA Lab they have a "deal" with, which is the most expensive one. My daughter and wife did theirs at St Lukes. the whole thing took about two months. This was for my daughters US passport, CRBA and SSN. The results were sent to the embassy on the 19th of March, we are still waiting for her documents.

Thank you for sharing your experience.. I am willing to do DNA if it's necessary. I will go to philippines to see my daughter in June 6. Will be there for 2 weeks. Do you think is it enough time? Is there any thing I need to do aside from that before the test? Is the test is going to be done in SLEC?
