For the immigrating engineers

Did you have to get some sort of equivalency for your foreign degree? My husband is an engineer and we're trying to figure out if he needs to get his degree certified or something before we leave the country so he can get a job in the USA.

(I ask this because, for example, I'm a teacher and if I go to a different state to teach I'd have to be re-certified for that separate state. Wondering if it's like this in the USA for engineers as well?)

I would get a few copies and a translation if needed. Heck, I'm trying to get copies of my spouse diploma and that is a pain. Try to get copies in English or certified translations just in case.

It depends on the degree and the field. Something like a business degree then no if it is a profession with a specific regulatory body then maybe.

wes.org can translate a foriegn qualification into an american equivalent.

Thanks guys!

Here they can put a whole bunch of stamps on the degree and make it "international" but I didn't know if that actually mattered in the USA.
