Hello all!

So, even though I feel like I'm "jinxing" things by planning this far ahead; I know I need to consider things like, if we are approved, where is my beloved going to live? (I'm a Masters' student working full time, so I currently live in shared housing on campus with some wonderful roommates) And if approximately when should I tell the school we will need married student housing?

Okay, VJ Masters; is it optimistic to assume (if all goes well, and I know with immigration nothing is certain until you're a naturalized citizen) that my beloved could be here by December?

My school would like to know if they should put us down for married student housing for the next academic year, and I honestly don't know what to tell them because everything is so up in the air with timeline prediction dates. We're at the NVC stage now, but I've heard horror stories of people beings stuck there for months. Any idea, Vjers, if I'm being too optimistic by saying he'll be here as early as September? Or at least December?

Thank you all so much!!

If everything lines up well, yes, December may be a reasonable expectation.

There's a plethora of things that can happen to make that take longer in reality though.

November 14th, 2013: She's here!

December 12th, 2013: Picked up marriage license.

December 14th, 2013: Wedding

I agree with Avery Cates. December should be reasonable, but I'd go to the Cambodia forum and check timelines and ask there if I were you....each Consulate and situation is different!

The general forum recommendation is to not make any non-refundable, non-changeable commitments or reservations until you have your visa in your passport, in your hands.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)

since yer chasing a K-1,

and the NOA-2 date is 2014-04-24

then I think a reasonable expectation might be that his visa is issued sometime between August to November,

so

this concept of married student housing for the fall term then depends on his jump date.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
