My fiancé got a copy of his NSO BC but it didn't have his first name on it.

Now his interview is on May 30.

He was told that he needs to go to his province where he was born to fix the problem.

He is in Manila, his province is in Iloilo.

This is F-O-S.

Anyone experienced this??

We have about 3 weeks. this is ridiculous. OMG

I'm freaking out here.

well.. he's had a passport for several years now... and his bc is the green one and not the yellow one from nso...

NSO changes the security paper (SECPA) every now and then. I had both yellow and the yellow-green-ish one but all my info is the same.

If the prior NSO BC that he got (regardless of SECPA color) contains his first name, getting a new one now should also contain his first name. He must go to the Local Civil Registry (LCR) and obtain a certified true copy of his BC (that should reflect his first name as well). Bring that to NSO main to have it sorted out.

If his BC from the LCR does not contain his first name, that's a problem. He may have it corrected there if ever.

Well his greenBC has all his info on it... which is WEIRD that NSO is missing his first name...

So he has about 3 weeks to fix this because no way I am not going to reschedule the interview.

jeez... so i guess he'll have to go to iloilo then...

this is stupid. nso is stupid. couldn't they just correct that right then and there seeing that the greenBC has his correct info.. theres so much proof.. his passport, id's, etc to prove his identity..

omg i am stressed out about this...

and the thing thats pissing me off even more is the fact that he didn't take action a while back. ughhh....

I'm sorry to hear this. Follow through as Apple advised. Also, once corrected, get atleast 3 BC copies. You will need it for AOS and some counties/ states require that as well for marriage license application. But the county clerk will give you back the BC.

Hope your fiance will be successful in having this done soon.

If he has a photocopy or extra NSO BC (the old one) that has his first name, bring that as well as proof.

I was in the same situation before and it took me more than a month to fix it but that was 6 years ago so maybe the process is faster now. He needs to go to his hometown asap if he wants to get it fix because the local civil registrar will need to forward his supplemental info to quezon city nso.

Another thing u can try to research is pay a lawyer to produce an affidavit stating the information that is missing is your fiance's first name and provide other evidence to support.

This is one of those "- git 'er dun!" things, he is just going to have to make the trip and get things corrected as quickly as possible. Luckily it is not a major issue to get that corrected.

Republic Act 9048

An Act Authorizing C/MCR or Consul General to Correct a Clerical or Typographical Error in an Entry and/or Change of First Name or Nickname in the Civil Register Without Need of a Judicial Order.

What is Republic Act 9048?

Republic Act (RA) 9048 authorizes the city or municipal civil registrar or the consul general to correct a clerical or typographical error in an entry and/or change the first name or nickname in the civil register without the need of a judicial order.

RA 9048 amends Articles 376 and 412 of the Civil Code of the Philippines, which prohibit the change of name or surname of a person, or any correction or change of entry in a civil register without judicial order.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo approved the act on the 22nd of March 2001. With the law taking effect on the 22nd of April 2001, the Civil Registrar-General promulgated Administrative Order No. 1 Series of 2001, which was published in the newspapers in August that year.

Your fiancé has to file a supplemental report. The supplemental report is applicable for those who don't have first name entries, no gender etc ....

Requirements:

https://www.ecensus.com.ph/Secure/Files/CDLIReq.pdf

Also check our fellow member's experience. She was able to fix her problem in 3weeks. It was her middle name that was missing but your fiancé has to undergo the same process.
