It makes me sad to see how many, like us, are still waiting for an answer... we received our NOA1 January 23rd and not a single word has changed whenever I check for our case status. We already called USCIS twice, but unless it's over 5month, there's no reason to call.. we don't even know if there is a RFE. I didn't really understand this about the letter to write, but if by the end of june we don't have an answer (5 months in 22days) .. guess it will be our only way to speed things up a little bit !

My wife and I have an immigration lawyer so I actually haven't familiarized myself deeply with the process.

Is the "filer" date the same thing as the priority date? My wife's priority date is on early January of this year, yet it is been in interview scheduling since February. My wife received her EAD (work permit) in March. Since then all we've done is update our address on file.

We are just past the six-month mark and our lawyer contacted USCIS and said we can't re-contact them until we get a response or thirty days without a response passes.

That response window would be in early September, so at that point if they just say "We're working on it," what is my best course of action? We're in Washington, DC, and since we're not a state here in the capital I know our political representation situation is a little different. Who would we contact in my wife's case? Thanks for all your help from AJ increasingly impatient January filer!
