Need help regarding Police certificate- Mumbai Embassy

Hi

I received only one original copy of the Police Certificate which I have already sent it to NVC. I have called NVC last night to double check if I can just take the photocopy of Police certificate to the interview but the operator said that the case is closed from their end and shes not able to confirm if they have the original copy or not. And then she said that i will need to bring in original at the Interview?. I am so confused now.

Can anyone tell me if with just the photocopy of the Police certificate were you successful in attending the interview?

Or do i really need to get another original copy of Police certificate for interview?

Getting another orginal copy would be a such a hassle. Its difficult being a foreigner here and trying to communicate with them. And of course i'll have to bribe them again. Make more than one trip there. If i had known before i would not have submitted my original Police certificate to NVC.

My husband never sent in PCC to nvc. They said we dont need to sent it with our civil doct. and i think they will forward your PCC with your file.

Since you have already sent the original PCC to NVC (as per their instructions), I am sure NVC has sent your file (or sending it right now), to the consulate. Once the file reaches the consulate, you can send them an email and ask for clarification. Hopefully they can clear your doubts. I do not think you need to get another PCC.

Once the file reaches the consulate, you can send them an email and ask for clarification. Hopefully they can clear your doubts. I do not think you need to get another PCC.

Is this the correct email add? Any idea? Looks like they do not respond to queries over the phone.

How long do you think it will take for our package to be received by Mumbai Embassy? Planning to email them.Btw thanks for your suggestion.

I am not sure how prompt they are in responding to emails, though. If you call here are the phone numbers:

Call Center hours:

Note: Applicants without both the medical report AND police clearance certificate will not be allowed entry into U.S. Embassy New Delhi or U.S. Consulate Mumbai. If you do not have your Indian police clearance certificate in time, you need to reschedule your appointment for a later date. If there is a problem with your medical report, the Panel Physician will give you separate instructions.

what if you submitted your PCC to the NVC? do they really check for the indian PCC before letting you into the embassy?

I sent an email yesterday and got a response today.They are prompt in responding to your mail but they are useless. I asked them if i'll be allowed to attend the interview with a photocopy of the Police clearence certificate as the original was provided to NVC already and they respond with :

Without the Indian police clearance certificate, you will not be allowed entry into U.S. Embassy New Delhi or U.S. Consulate Mumbai on your interview date. If you do not have your police clearance certificate in time, you will need to reschedule your appointment for a later date.

Further, we would request you kindly carry all the relevant documents for your Consulate Appointment.

Looks like you have also sent the original copy of your PCC to NVC. Did you get two original copies? If so then you are ok.Otherwise, you might have to do some running around.

Since your IL does not mention the PCC as a required document (since it was already sent to them), I have a feeling that the Security at the consulate will let you in with a copy of the PCC. But then again, I am not 100% sure about this. Hope you get more conclusive answers when you call them.

It is very odd. But then again, this whole immigration process is surreal. I have a feeling that the security at the consulate will accept the photocopy of the PCC, to let you in. Specially when the original was sent to NVC and it is not mentioned as a required document in the IL.

Fingerprinting/Pics done at the OFC Hyderabad today. Absolutely no hassle. They stamped the DS-260 confirmation page, and also attached a sticker to her passport. Someone from the US Consulate Mumbai called her later today and reminded her to get the fingerprinting/pics done at the OFC and reminded her of the upcoming interview. I did not know that the consulate actually calls people.

Update:

Rang embassy regarding the above question and they said that if i have submitted originals at the NVC then i can take the photocopy of the original PCC for the interview. To be on safer side, went back and applied for another original NVC which i'll be getting on monday.
