Thanks for the help, guys! In my orientation today they said they offer health care for same-sex partners, so we're going to look into it and compare to see which company is better or if her's even can offer me anything as her spouse.

And if she is technically employed in Washington (after the move) they're bound to allow same sex healthcare!

No. You apply for the SSN from arrival up to 2 weeks before your I-94 expires (90 days from entry). It will likely have the qualification "valid for work only with DHS authorization" and will have your maiden name. Some people find it easier to get before marriage in Visa name rather than after marriage. Or you can wait for your EAD and get it then and it will have the same qualification on it but it's easier to get in married name (if you're changing yours.)

Oh good! Because the plan was to hop right onto my fiancés health plan to start covering the doctors and birth costs. They keep saying once we're married we're covered but, I think there might be a little more work then that, like getting the SSN. And apparently you need the social to obtain your drivers license as well because the state of PA won't recognize my canadian one.

once you're married your husband will need to change his policy to include you. It's not "married and covered."
