Hello all,

In 1 week I will send my supporting documentation to NVC.

My interview will be in Nairobi,Kenya.

Lately I have been checking the news about Kenya and it is very scary.

i want to know who i can call or email to change the country for my interview.

if NVC transfer my file to another us embassy in different country for my interview will it take longer, how much longer?

Thank you for your help.

The process of IR-1/CR-1 is long,it's moving slowly but surely.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I have legal residence in my home country only which is Mauritius.

I do not have legal residence in Kenya. But my interview will be scheduled there.

I think there is a possibility of changing address for the interview but i do not know how and how long it will take.

Not possible - Kenya is in charge of immigrant visas and you can't change that unless you have legal residency in a third country.

U.S. Embassy Port Louis does not process immigrant visas for Mauritian or Seychellois citizens. These immigrant visas are handled by U.S. Embassy Nairobi. For more information, please see U.S. Embassy Nairobi's website: http://nairobi.usembassy.gov or the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website: www.uscis.gov or the Bureau of Consular Affairs website: http://travel.state.gov.

Something else about interviewing in Kenya that caused us some headache is that it was a PITA to pay the interview fee - which of course has to be paid before you can schedule the interview.

Unless this has changed (and I hope it either has or will soon) there were only 2 ways to pay the fee - both of which required your physical presence in Kenya. There is some kind of cell phone payment system (of which I'm still pretty ignorant) and some kind of Post Office Bank where you can pay in person.

Also, it may take up to a week for the medical test results to make it from the doctor's office to the embassy. And then another week (or longer) for them to return your passport (with the visa) to you. Be sure to let them know that you're flying out and ask them to expedite if they can.
