I would recommend before. We've seen several cases where the visa was put on hold until CRBA was completed.

I for sure would not delay, you could be done with your visa process then stuck waiting for the CRBA process to be completed so you can get a U.S. passport for your child to travel.

As others have said, it's a good idea to take care of the CRBA (and then the US Passport) ASAP. My son had his passport in hand before I got back to the U.S. and filed for my wife's CR-1.

you will know if you are approve or not on same day. during crba you can also apply for the passport of the baby. if approved, you will be able to get the crba and passport in about 2 weeks...

Hello my son's passport took 2 weeks, however his CRBA took 6 weeks (2014). Mine was done in Jakarta, but it may be different where you are. Good luck, and remember preparation is key!

We did our sons CRBA in Manila in Jan 2014 and it took about 3-4 weeks to get it delivered to our apartment in Cebu....definitely not 6 months. The passport actually comes from the US, goes to the embassy in Manila for a QA check, then gets delivered.
