***Timeline- You are doing it wrong!***

Our case ended up at the wrong Embassy so we had to request a transfer from one Embassy to another setting us back a few months, but I can't see anywhere to enter that. I used the date it ended up at the correct Embassy. Is that right or should I use the date it first arrived in the other country? Either way, it skews our timeline without being able to show the amount of time it took to transfer to the correct embassy.

Transferred on timeline refers at USCIS stage. The Igor's list based on NOA-1 data from members here. If you got transferred because ended up at wrong the US embassy is not count as transferred.

i have an issue with my timeline keep going to Armania...if you see my email it says I make changes to my timeline everyday.. for some reason when I change it to nothing the next day it goes right back to Armania! I finally just stop changing it because it just always goes back.

You should notify the moderators about the error. Listed the US embassies on timeline is very important because easy for people to understand the whole process from the specific country when case files are finally at NVC - specifically for K-1 visa-. The US consulate/embassy in different countries has their own requirement. For example, the US embassy in Jakarta has different requirement or length amount of times for visa processing compared to the US embassy in London or the US embassy in Manila.

When you put wrong embassy on timeline it really can't help others. Timelines on VJ I believe it's created to help others to understand each steps in the whole process . That's why I filled out all information are needed on my timeline so others can learn from that.

Another thing, TSC is being slow in recent months because they also get petitions from Vermont Service Center and this is probably create backlogging cases. Vermont - from what I read and heard- is not processing K-1 visas anymore.

I don't believe anything is transferred from VSC anymore, as they should no longer have any pending I-129Fs. Since July of last year all new petitions are routed directly to TSC. VSC no longer processes I-129F petitions.

My wording probably is not correct . I am not saying Vermont Service Center transferred I-129F petitions to TSC. I am saying TSC got petitions from VSC which means there are overload cases now since TSC has to deal with petitions from states that usually VSC had handled before. Imagine, when you usually have 2 tasks everyday and now the burden added up to 6. It will make slow the process.

Edit: What I meant on my earlier post was VSC is not processing petitions for K-1 visas anymore.

Ok, maybe you're not. Then again, maybe you are. Or maybe you aren't doing it at all.... which is still wrong.

Have you been looking at Igor's list trying to get an idea of how long your visa will take? That data is taken from the timelines other visa journey members take the time to fill out as their quest for a visa unfolds. This site is AMAZING and offers a lot of guidance and support that you won't get anywhere else, especially from USCIS. Don't just take, give back!

When you do update your timeline there are some things you can do to, well, not screw up.

For example:

When you send in your application, please note that just because it goes to a Texas address does not mean you sent it to the Texas Service Center. It means you sent it to the Lewisville, TX lockbox where it will be sorted out and then sent to the appropriate service center. THIS IS NOT A TRANSFER. The same would apply to other lockboxes as well. This is a mistake that is easy to make if you aren't familiar with the process but it does a lot of damage to the credibility of the timelines, especially for those at the Texas Service Center.

Also, pay attention to the consulate you select. I see a lot of people that have their consulate listed as "Armenia" when they are not anywhere near there.

Lastly, just update your timeline! When you enter in your dates for RFE, NOA2, Interviews, approvals and anything else, it gives people with similar circumstances an idea of what they are in for. You know this process is daunting, frustrating, time consuming, and confusing.... wouldn't you appreciate and guidance and help other than a "general processing time estimate" that is not necessarily taking your details into account?

Unfortunately due to data entry mistakes, Igor's List has become less of a reliable resource for some of us and the time frame estimates on our own completed timelines is not accurate at all. These are great resources if we can get people to participate AND put in details correctly.

If you have questions on how to do it please ask in this thread! Somebody will gladly answer.

If you have more suggestions on how to fill out the timeline correctly so we can all make better use of these free tools VJ gives us, please add!

Thank you for this post! However my timeline is one of those that for consulate have Armenia and that is NOT what I selected, it was listed by defult and I have tried to change and dont know how... If some one can tell me how, it will be greatly apreciated :secret:

Thank you!

One solution for this:

Make 2 question:

1) Where did you send your application to?

a- Lewisville, TX Lockbox

b- TSC

c- CSC

d- VSC

2) If (a), where was your case sent to? (you can come up with better wording than this)

a- TSC

b- CSC

c- VSC

3) Was your case later transferred? (I don't know how transfers work, but you can put a clarification next to it)
a- Yes
b- No
If yes, add questions..

I like the way you're thinking!

i have an issue with my timeline keep going to Armania...if you see my email it says I make changes to my timeline everyday.. for some reason when I change it to nothing the next day it goes right back to Armania! I finally just stop changing it because it just always goes back.

That is really odd! I think the previous response is right. You'd have to message a site moderator to see if they can correct it.

Why don't they send them to CSC?? They are pretty comfortable with time. I don't understand...

I understand your frustration. I mentioned about "transferred or not transferred" many times and probably many members here got tired and hated me for doing so. It is a crystal clear on notification - email, text, or NOA-1 hardcopy- where USCIS will en route the petition. It is not a rocket science to understand these things.

When a petition get transferred to another service center, USCIS will notify the petitioner about the case file. But usually transferred happens not right after acceptance which this is a problem now where some members tend to think Dallas Lockbox is same with TSC and when they received NOA-1 and read CSC listed as service center and then they thought their cases transferred to CSC.

Another thing, TSC is being slow in recent months because they also get petitions from Vermont Service Center and this is probably create backlogging cases. Vermont - from what I read and heard- is not processing K-1 visas anymore.

TSC did not have to take in I-129F petitions on top of the ones they were already processing because before Vermont started to transfer I-129F petitions there, they were not processing those They had to hire/train new people for the TSC to begin processing the I-129F petitions last year. Now that all petitions that would have gone to Vermont are going to Texas, the TSC has the same amount of I-129F petitions that the VSC would have.

I am afraid can't give you a correct answer. Back in the end of 2012 and early 2013 - as far as I remember- CSC was pretty slow and started getting faster around the time when my fiance filed I-129, August 2013. TSC was pretty fast back then. When you read an announcement from USCIS that they will en-routed petitions that originally from VSC to TSC in July 2013, and then TSC started slowing their work. Many people had complaining how slow TSC was back then. If I could guess probably workloads petitions are redirecting from VSC have affected the whole process at TSC.
