Hi all!

I am in the process of filling the AOS for the relatives immigrating to the USA. Everytime I look at the i-864 form , I have a new question in my mind :(

So, according to my situtaion, I am currently a student and I will start working from the August of this yr. As per my previous three yrs tax returns , I do not meet the poverty guidelines and I will thus need a joint sponsor. My question here is that- once I start working from August (I have a job offer) I will make enough money to sponsor my relatives, so should I put my "projected" income for the yr 2014 in the part 6.5 of I-864 and not use a joint sponsor or will I still need a joint sponsor. And even more important is that am I allowed to put "the projected" income for 2014 in the "current individual income " section ? If not then what do I put? I was thinking that I was supposed to put 2013's annual individual in that section and then I saw some one on VJ point out that its supposed to be "curent yr" meaning 2014. I am confused.

Secondly, the joint sponsor I am using is self employed and has a joint tax return with his wife. How would I know his "individual" annual income? Will a self employed person have a W-2? In the section 6.5 of the i-864 , should he put his individual income or his joint income with his wife ? And also the same question for part 6 (13a,13b,13c) , shud he put the amount on line 22 on 1040 here or his individual income? And does his wife also need to fill out the i-864A just because they filled a joint tax return?

I know it's a lot to read in my post, but I am very confused at this moment. I was thinking this was very straight forward and now some how I have managed to mess it up all in my brain :(

Thanks for any help, I really appreciate it!

Once you've actually started your new job, you will state your document-able expected earnings for the next 12 months as your "current income". Until then, that would not be your current income, because you aren't working and earning it until then.

Present tense questions are present tense. Past tense questions, such as income from past tax returns, are past tense. Answer the actual question asked with the truth on the day you'll be signing and mailing the affidavit.
