Help, I think I got my wife pregnant, its a great thing but she hasnt gotten her immunizations yet for I693. What are we supposed to do now, she cant get them if she is pregnant. Any advice from all you very smart people out there?

Vaccination Requirements

All applicants for immigrant visas are required to have the following vaccinations, if appropriate, for age, medical condition, or medical history:

Mumps

Measles

Rubella

Polio

Tetanus and diptheria toxoids

Pertussis

Influenza type B

Hepatitis B

Varicella

Pneumococcal

Vaccinations can be waived due to medical circumstances or if they not appropriate.

Some vaccinations are safe during pregnancy, however ...

She should not receive the MMR (Measles+Mumps+Rubella) or Rubella vaccine if she is in the first trimester of pregancy. There is a potential for birth defects because the Rubella vaccine contains live attenuated (weakened) Rubella virus.

There may also be some concern about Varicella (Chicken Pox) vaccine given during pregnancy.

Okay that answers that part but as always leads to another question, who gives the waiver, the civil surgeon where we would get the vaccinations/ I693 filled out?
