mini rant: why is american bread so sweet? feels like i'm eating dessert even when i've got savoury sauces and meats in there. :dead:

corn syrup used in it. I'm not kidding. check the ingredient list next time - you NOT WANT HFCS [high fructose corn syrup] in it.

it's rare to find it without so be prepared for the slog around town to find it.

or buy a used breadmaker and make it yerself.

I see lots of bread in the bread aisle that says no corn syrup on it.

the only bread the fam buys is 50 cent discount high fructose #######.

And a big ole jar of honey...

And I made her an Everything bagel one morning :)

ya...tell me about it. I baked a lot of bread while here.

I've never baked bread. I can barely bake cookies. My mom's husband used to make tons of homemade bread and it was seriously some of the best stuff I've ever had.

(The rare occasion I miss living with my mom.)
