Guys, can you tell me one thing, since I've been wondering about it while readin some other thread here.

Hopefully that won't bring any drama, because I don't want that.

When you vote, do you have to show your ID or something, to get the ballot?

Or you just go to the office (or wherever you can vote) and say "I want to vote" and you get a ballot?

Here depending on the election you have to show id and proof of taxpayer liability. For presidential election and id and your presence on the voter rolls will work (they cross you out of the book once you've votes), for local elections, you have to be a local taxpayer - i.e., own a house, a car or boat of a certain value in order to vote.

Then you wouldn't like these kiddy pants. Convenient for a child to pee and poop.

I would be embarrassed like hell to dress like that as a child.

I know that it many places toddlers pee and poo on the floors, so I could see these being home outfits or something, but in public, no.

You have to register to vote to be in the book and they have multiple books arranged alphabetically for the whole town. I know other places have fancier systems, but this is the way a lot of people vote in America.

For presidential elections, there are some places where I think you can walk in and register same day, but I've not had experience with it.

Only for hyper-local issues do you have to be have a tax liability (like town wanting to buy a piece of land) and even then, they tend not to really keep track of it. For beach passes they are more strict, though.

CBP won't give us the option to appear in person to get the I-94 corrected. we had to send in an email instead. i called to follow up today and basically was told to stop calling because they don't give out time frames and will contact me if they need any more information or to tell me it's been corrected.

i can't get an SSN till it's corrected. can i file for AOS without the I-94?

in better news, i managed to open a bank account yesterday. only needed my passport, secondary ID (used a mastercard) and proof of address (we had to wait a couple days for the management to add me to the lease).

bad news is...until i get an SSN, the bank can't let me have access to internet banking, so i have no way of tracking my funds/expenditure.

very grumpy now.
