The nutria, Myocastor coypus, is a large semi-aquatic rodent.

yes really....my dad had a nutria farm..for meat and the fur...we made coats out of it.

it is like a rabbit just doesn't smell like a rabbit which is a good thing.

they are not terribly cuddly though....I do have pics holding baby nutria, big ones bite a lot.

they look a lot like muskrat to me.

While we use muskrat for fur, we don't eat them. Unless you're from Arkansas.

when I googled them, yep they were bigger than muskrats, smaller than beaver. We do eat beaver here though.
