Eventually the other place will get fixed... then we'll have a decision to make...

THe other place has so much historical data that it shows up at the top on searches. BUT, the forum software SUCKS.

Absolutely it sucks ( the forum platform they are using) the other forums in there are also filled with porn and ####### but you are right in that there is a lot of historical data there as well. Perhaps an import project of sorts could be done, or we could come up with a thread with links to direct data info from the old group?


I must say I am very happy to have found you all again though. I mean I have spent the last year or so talking directly or indirectly with most of you every day.

I still think we can built this same forum, all together :)

Within few months it will be as rich as the other one, I can't hundle any more frustrations of not getting through to the other place!

I'm not sure an import would work - ultimately the search engines will often rank on the relevance of the data - so the other place got listed first because of the sheer volume and wealth of data. That will continue once it is back up. Over time this place would grow - but people will be asked stuff over there... so I am guessing "we" will pop over there because that is where the action will be.

Then there is this forum in terms of scale. Coping will with a few hundred or even a few thousand hits. What if that grows. Is the owner of the site prepared/motivated to cope with that growth. If not, this will become unstable. Remember the other place blew up on the morning of May 1. Basically all the extra traffic blew it up - and I'm guessing they decided to try and upgrade it since it was unable to be bought back up safely at that level of demand.

Anyhow.. like you say, at least we have a nice shelter in the storm - and it is lovely to be filled with friendly faces....
