I am the Petitioner for an I-129F for my fiancee in Ethiopia. Unlike many others on this thread, my application seems to be stuck at the TSC. It has been more than a month since I received my NOA1 by email/text. Any ideas? Does the Embassy location influence the process at all?

Timeline:

5/16/14 I-129F sent

5/19/14 I-129f USPS confirmed delivery

5/21/14 – NOA1 Notice Date

5/22/14 NOA1 received via email/text

5/22/14 Check cashed by USCIS

5/27/14 NOA1 received via mail file assigned to TSC

5/29/14 alien number changed; viewed on website; no paperwork received

Thank you in advance for your input

Sorry to bring bad news but if you applied in May you have until at least mid October before there is anything you can do. There are still people from November waiting to be approved so the wait for TSC seems to be at least 5 months. The country your applying from does make a difference, if it is a high fraud country I think they do extra checks, etc.

All you can do now is study the visa journey for the next steps, get ready for your interview and wait.

Its is so unfair that the 2 service centres have such different times. Some people have contacted there congress person (i think thats who they contacted?) but at the end of the day the wait is 5 months for all visas and there is a fair chance they will just tell you that if you request any info.

Sorry and good luck

I called NVC today to see where our case has got to. They received it yesterday (30th June) but it hasn't been put on the system yet, so no case number.

I was on hold for about 25 minutes before I got through to somebody. Thank you Skype for unlimited calls to the US! We are one step closer...

Thank you for your reply to my post. Unfortunately it seems there are few timelines for K-1 Beneficiaries from Ethiopia on this website, so it is difficult to ascertain whether Ethiopia is a high fraud country and therefore the time delay is to be expected. I do see on the timeline page the vast difference in K-1 processing times between the California and Texas centers (June vs. February), although it seems from the postings in this conversation that some Texas center K-1 petitions have moved very quickly. Clearly it appears I am not one of the "lucky" ones. . .

No problem. You will receive RFE(Request For Evidence). just have those docs ready to send ti back as soon as you receive it. Keep reading this forum and see if oyu maybe missed anything else. This place is really helpfull. I would check with this link too http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

And I believe traveling is fine. In fact pretty sure it is fine because TSC takes about 5 month. No way you have to stay in the coutry for 5 month. Plus some people have additional pics together for the interview to show On-going relationship since initial application!

i'm confused, I know i'm probably jumping too far ahead but I've been reading up on SSN and came across this http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn on the site. It says as a K visa holder it would not be generated. My question is on the form do I say no on the DS-230 to wanting a card assigned and consent to disclosure?

Yes, Max, your fiancee' will have to provide that. This is a pretty rare thing that not every consulate requires, but the Tbilisi one does. My fiance' will have to do so as well, and I am planning to write to them and ask for how long that certificate will be valid. Since there is another problem with the Tbilisi consulate - very short expiration date of all the documents. The police certificate is only valid for 2 weeks(!!!) since the date of issuance!

And all the translations must be verified by the public notary too.

Where did you get the information about PC being valid only for 2 weeks? I got one in Baku and they said it doens't expire and I e-mailed US Embassy in Georgia and they didn't mention anything about 2 weeks. just reffered me what exactly I need which doesn't state anything about 2 weeks.

Q:

"Kristina is from Azerbaijan and I was wondering what kind of documentation she needs to provide from Ministry of Internal Affairs? Is that just that she has never committed a crime or something like that? And Main question related to this is, how long does this kind of form valid for? Does it expire? I was informed that for Georgian citizens this form is valid for only 2 weeks once it is obtained in Tbilisi. Is this the same rule for citizens of Azerbaijan or no? Because MIA advised that this form never expires. So it must be US Embassy of Georgia's requirement to set for expiration date for this form."

A:

"Dear Maximilian Zimin,

Thank you for your email. Please, see the detailed information regarding necessary documents for K-1 visa: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/types/family/fiance-k-1.html

Best regards,

US GSS Visa service desk"

I would really hope they would mention something about the 2 weeks cuz that website doesn't for sure.

Max, my bad, I was wrong.

That's what the answer to my email says:

Dear Ms.......,

Thank you for your email. The document which he needs to provide is called a military book, which he has to obtain from the local military district where he is registered. He will also need to obtain a police clearance from Ukraine if he lived there for 6 months or more. All police certificates must be less than 12 months old when presented on the interview date. The US government does not recognize church marriages which take place in Georgia as legal documentation of a marriage. If a marriage is documented by a Civil Registry or legal authority in Georgia however, then the beneficiary would not be eligible for a petition of this kind.
