Hi All,

Thanks a lot for all the help so far. I have a question on a Bangkok DCF. It states in the pak 3 that our information we send to the US Embassy can be in Thai or English. We have a house appraisal that is in Thai, so I would guess it is OK to send it in Thai language? Does anyone know if this is correct?

The O P has said before he doesn't care if answers given are correct as long as the person meant well so a guess will do.

He has also said the info in packet 3 indicates info can be submitted in either language but wants to know if an house appraisal in Thai can be submitted in Thai.

The actual question should be, are the P 3 instructions correct or not; therefore should they be followed or not.

I'm not really understand your point. All I wanna say is I understand that the housing appraisal report can be submitted in Thai and no need to do the translation.

I am sure you don't.

In any case what is the point in submitting an appraisal of a house in Thailand? Such an appraisal is useless of course because it means nothing related to the circumstances involved in immigration matters. Anyone could get an appraisal written but it wouldn't matter unless the object were actually sold and even then it wouldn't mean the object would bring the appraised price.

The actual point is that the O P admits the P 3 instructions indicate docs submitted in EITHER language are acceptable. So what is the point in the original question or your response?

The O P has really asked if others think the instructions are correct.

If I can't follow the instruction in pak 3, what am I suppose to do guess? I can't talk to the Embassy. The house we are going to use as an asset. It has an appraised value of $250,000 and we will move to the USA, so we will not be living in it. I would think that would make it a liquid asset. If they don't want us to use a house as an asset, why do they have it on the form?

Here you state what the P 3 indicates which is either language can be submitted. Then you guess its ok. Then you ask if that's correct.

You certainly should and must follow the instructions.

Above you indicate what the P 3 instructions say. Then you guess its ok. Now you ask if you are supposed to guess. Not really a good idea to just guess. Much better to follow the instructions.

Assets must be liquid. That means the house cant be used just because you aren't living in it.

The appraised value means nothing because anyone could write an appraisal at any price but it doesn't mean it will sell for that nor reflect what may be owed on the property.

Remember you ? No.

Arrogant? LOL I simply pointed out exactly what you said for what it really is. What is it about those facts that bother you ?

Man? No.

In reality I have been correct in my responses then and now. I wish I could say what DCF means when it comes to you but then there are the rules.

You said you had lived in Thailand on tourist visas. How did you file DCF using that info. If that was accepted as you say how did you present that info in the case?

Your response could help many people so try to grow up and help. You could be the first that has done this in the last 6 years that I know of.

Here is the O P s statement.

"I am wondering if anyone knows want are the guidelines for filing a DCF? I have been living in Thailand, at the same address for 1 1/2 years. I have just married a Thai woman and would like to move to the US. I am a US citizen. I have been using a tourist visa and have just changed to a type O visa about 2 weeks about when I got married. Will I be able to file for a DCF? Thank you ".

Based on the USEM website, the OP DOES NOT qualify for DCF if he has only had a Non-O for 2 weeks. The website clearly states the following:

In a limited number of cases, if the petitioner can demonstrate current residence in Thailand for at least six months, the petition may be filed with the USCIS office in Bangkok. The general inquiry email box for USCIS Bangkok is BKKCIS.Inquiries@dhs.gov.

Living in Thailand on a string of tourist visas or 30 day stamps has never been a method to "demonstrate current residence in Thailand for six months" I lived in Thailand for 2.5 years on 30 day stamps and was never considered a resident by any agency, Thai or U.S. That said, maybe USCIS in Bangkok mistook the OP's 1.5 years in Thailand as being there on a Non-O. Hard to say. For the OPs sake, hopefully they don't figure out their mistake three quarters of the way through the process and make him file the petition with a USCIS service center in the U.S. If that happens the OP is looking at roughly a year to get the visa, which is how long it has been taking for everyone else filing from the U.S.

My husband also lived there on tourist visas for two years. Had we known about DCF he might have done what they require to obtain a O visa. The ensuing journey took 408 days.

My sentiments are different than yours with respect to the outcome. If the O P statement is correct he will have potentially committed fraud to gain what he did. That may not be found or it could be discovered at any time so he will have to deal with it either way. So far he just thinks everything is fine.

Now there is a picture of true arrogance.
