Getting a headstart on AOS..quick question

Alright, our K1 visa interview is in two weeks, and I just had a question about the AOS element of this. The only thing we really need to actively do to make our AOS easier is to make sure to get a copy of the vaccination supplement at the medical, correct? (And of course, keep all our information from the K1 process). Is there anything else we should be actively preparing for to make AOS easier at this stage?

I just got off the phone with the county clerk in my county, and she said that if we hand deliver the marriage license from the officiant, she can get us certified copies that day, which is super nice.

I'd look thru the AOS guide so you know what forms you need to be preparing to deal with and get familiar with it. Will make it all a lot nicer when it comes time to actually file as the stuff will be familiar. Also line up your cosponsor if you need one and let them know all the tax stuff you'll be needing.

call up the irs and get transcrips for the past 3 years. it's free but it takes about a week to 10 days to get. We just filed ours and that's the only thing we had to wait on.

We did the same thing to get our marriage certificates..... we took them in ourselves and got 3 certified copies while we waited only 2 days after our wedding. That really saves time, rather than having to wait for them to get processed and mailed to you.

The Vaccination Supplement can be prepared by the civil surgeon in the U.S. by copying the information off the Vaccination Worksheet (from the K-1 interview), so make sure you ask for a separate copy for yourselves. They will give you the sealed envelope after the medical exam which will contain the worksheet, but you can't open that envelope, so make sure you get a copy for yourselves.

Our civil surgeon in Seattle, WA. charged us $35.00 to transfer the information from the Vaccination Worksheet onto the Vaccination Supplement. Make sure they don't try to tell you that you need another medical exam. Some will tell you that and you will notice they give varied price quotes to prepare the Supplement. Call a few and get the best price.

Cass, while you are waiting, why not download all the AOS forms and practice filling them out, that way when it comes time to get them ready, you'll just need to transfer the information, or just add in the missing stuff you'll get at the POE. We spent a couple of hours after I got there, putting the package together, and after we got married (got a copy of the certificate right away), we sent it out that day.

Defintiely a good idea. We are waiting a month between his entry and our wedding, so we'll have a good amount of time to get everything together then. I just really want to make sure I'm not going to miss anythiing, like getting the extra vaccination form, during the interview process. I dunno, maybe they want DNA samples from our interviewing officer or something.
