Hi otter, sorry I am using my phone to repspond to your msg, so pardon my errors.

The wait period according to USCIS is 6 months, that's just to stop applicant calling USCIS. Normally, they approve the gc after a month or two, I have read more than four cases like that.

I think most cases they give interview waiver are cases that looks genuine, though everything has advantages and disadvantages. the disadvantages of the interview waiver is the additional 2-6 months wait period.

just want to share my story. I filed our AOS apps on 05/27/2014 with my 2 minor kids. Done with biometrics and got the EAD/AP last month. Received notices of kids' interview for 09/17/14. Called several times the USCIS to verify the notices and even argued with them since I am the principal applicant and I haven't received mine yet, still with a status of scheduling for testing and interview. They kept on saying it doesn't matter if they go for interview first before me, just go to the interview date. But for me it's weird because I should be interviewed first before the minor dependents. Came 17th, we went to seattle USCIS, kids were absent from school, me and hubby called off from work and waited for almost 2 hours behind the scheduled time of interview just to hear from the lady there that "we're sorry, there's a mistake. we cannot interview the kids since you should be interviewed first before them. we don't have your paper here yet. we will reschedule you and the kids for the interview." i said that's what i'm trying to say to the customer service, they cannot provide an acurate answer, they just keep on reading what's written online. so useless! we just wasted time travelling for hours. the lady was so apologetic and said if i have any questions i could ask for infopass and go to their office, i said for me to go here and travel for 3 hours just to ask for a very simple question like that, it's really a big hassle.

i was so pissed with their customer service. seems like they really know nothing about procedure or process.

I am sorry for your story.

I once called customer service ,and the information they gave me was wrong. Actually It's only waisting your time if you told them they are wrong. USCIS thinks they can make a mistake but WE CAN"T. The only thing we can do is " wait , waiting ...keep waiting " if we are not lucky enough to get all the procedures done on time.
