Quick question - what's the urgency around getting the green card if you already have employment authorisation and advance parole? Is it just more reassurance around getting back in the country if you go abroad? Or am i missing something?

Well on the EAD/AP combo card, if you want to leave the US, and come back, it says in the packet that re-entry is not guaranteed. So in my husbands case, he is afraid to leave because he thinks they won't let him back in the US. So he wants to wait for the greencard so that he feels better about being let back into the US.

One can be denied entry into US even after having a valid GC. Only US citizens are guaranteed entry into US.

So that fear of being denied entry on EAD/AP should apply to GCs as well.

Just got the SMS/email that my EAD is in production, woohoo!

No word from the AP side ... wonder if mine is a combo card ...

Finally got a USPS tracking number on the EAD card. However my I131/AP case is still shown as "Initial Review" on USCIS. Is it normal?

I guess I will find out whether the card is a combo card by Friday (USPS suggested delivery date)

for all those who got a waiver, would you rather have a waiver than go through the interview and have the GC? does the waiver means after 6 months of waiting, you will just receive your GC in the mail?

We are still waiting for the outcome of the interview we had last tuesday. Does anyone know what the waiting time is for those who do not get approved on the spot? The lady said we would get some feedback by Friday but we didn't. Meanwhile I attended a job interview and was hired on the spot and I started working on Tuesday. This has helped a lot with getting my mind off the GC worries. I understand why some people would rather have a job on EAD than nothing with a GC. Sitting at home is such a BORE!!!

Anyways, I'm grateful for how far I have come and I'm much happier that I have a job right now. I'll hear from USCIS when I hear from them.

Congrats to everyone with positive feedback. We're keeping fingers crossed for the rest of the folks out there.

Thanks and God bless!

At this point I feel like it's a blessing we already received the EAD/AP card, so we can travel back to see his family and a BIG bonus (for me) we may not have to go through the interview process.

As for receiving the GC in 6 months...who knows it's the USCIS after all.

The letter is a "MAYBE", not a done deal with the waiver. They can still at their discretion demand we do the interview AND wait the additional six months. I wanted to start her in school, but she needed a GC for one of the grants she was applying for. Now we will have to postpone that until sometime next year. This really screwed our plans big time.

I filed I-485 on May 2014 with my kids under K2 visa. We got approved for EAD & AP combo on 8/5/14. My kids got notice of appointment for interviews on 9/17/14. It's weird I don't have any notice of appointment yet although I have to go with them since they're both minors. Anyone who has the same experience?

You are a permanent resident meaning that you get more benefits and more laws will protect you. You can work anywhere without worrying about it. One of the things I did last Thursday--as soon as I got my GC--was to go to the SS Administration to remove "Valid for Work only with DHS Authorization". Basically, that means that there is no restriction. Another reason is that most states will only give you a driver's licence as long as you Work Permit is valid. You can also qualify for Federal and State benefits. Financial aid to go to college and more.

How long does it take from date of ead card in production to card delivery? It's my first time posting even though I applied since June 5 2014. Glad my status just changed to ead card production today 21st Aug 2014

I filed my docs around mid of May and got biometric done on June 20,2014.

However, since may 22, 2014 the status of my i485 never change to anything else, but only "Acceptance " till now.

Yesterday I made a call to them to see if I could get any news. The one phone was asked me, "Which city do you live close to?". I answered, " Los Angeles". Then he said, " oh ! Currently Los Angeles office is working on November 13, 2013. So you have to wait ".

This is really confused me cuz I sent my package to Chicago, IL and one the" Acceptance" stage, there is a message saying that my case is on rout to National Benefit Centre. As I knew NBC is in Missouri. How come the guy said my package is in LA? That's weird.

Any ideas ?
