Hi,

I know about SS card name change ONLY when EAD was issued on married name and SS card was on maiden. From what I understood at SS office is that the name on GC or EAD is the name that may be shown on SS card....so I assume if your GC is issued on your maiden name, they will not switch the name into married one....though I DO STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU TO CALL OR VISIT SS OFFICE FOR MORE ACCURATE ANSWER...

Good luck!

I hdidn't master's degree, and used my f1patienceand b2 visa time to network like craat. When I got back I had a few nights out with some of my contacts. Got a few beers in them and got then to spread the word. Within about a week I interviewed for 6 jobs and was offered all of them. Picked the one with the best title, best money and pretty good hours even though I am salaried.

It is all about confidence. Being a great social drinker with good contacts always helps.

I didn't apply for one single job..

Have patience and faith, you will find something. Just remember everytime you are out at a bar, local event, or even church it is your opportunity to network with someone who can help you. Heck I am not even nearly religious, but the contact who got me in the door for the job I have does, and I met him there when I decided to go to a service for a christening. Every person you meet could potentially be your golden ticket.

K1 AOS:

May 22nd: Sent away AOS package Day 1

May 27th: Notification via text/email confirming receiving package. Day 5

May 29th: NOA's recieved on 29th May Day 7

June 2nd: Biometrics appointment for June 16th arrives. Day 11

June 16th: Successful Biometrics. Day 24

Sounds philosophical, but interesting!

Thanks for sharing, anyways

stupid phone created a lot of spelling mistakes... I "have" my masters.

But yeah, you kind of have to think outside the box over here. Especially in a small community like Montana.

Thanks for sharing. I'm in the same boat as the previous poster. I got my green card two days ago, and I've been applying like crazy. I get discourage because is so hard. I've had only one recruiter contact me since I got my work permit three weeks ago. But I have been thinking about along those lines to go to meetings and things like around the bay area, CA. I may need to talk to some people at the church I'm going to right now (some of them work for eBay and Apple).

For those of you getting your work permits and SSN:

Once you get your green card, you'll have to go back to the Social Security office to update it.

That way, your new SSN card won't have "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION". I did it yesterday to update it.
