Hello everyone,

I would really appreciate your help and experience on this matter, if anyone out there has any thought on this please reply:

On 1 April I had my interview for my I-130 green card at the US Consulate in Sydney and at the end of the interview I was told that my visa had been approved. I recieved a piece of paper stating this, also. The paper stated: congratulations; that it generally takes 5 days; and all the best in the US. I left my passport and express post stachel with them, as instructed.

However, 5 business days came and went with no passport in the mail. Today is the 21st working days and still no activity on the tracking number on the express post parcel. My next step was to check the CEAC website: I pugged in my NVC case number and found that my case is under 'Administrative Processing'. I googled this further and have read that this may take 2 months.

After this, I sent an email to the US Consulate asking them when I can expect my passport in the mail, and they stated that it was with a consular officer for review. However, I have a piece of paper telling me that my visa was approved. I googled this and people state that they were told that their case would need further review - rather than be told that it has been approved, and then find themselves in this situation.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be happening?

Many thanks in advance!

This is rare in a Western nation but not non existent as you can see. Is there anything in your history that might prompt them to do this? Criminal conviction? Membership in any political group with views unfavorable to the United States? Membership in any clandestine organzation?

Hopefullly it won't take too long, but there is really nothing you can do but sit and wait.
