Recent deposits in a bank account, especially ones that come from the US, are more likely to result in a denial than an issuance. Your future sister-in-law should just go prepared with what she has -- even if it makes it more likely that she will be denied. Making a quick deposit to make it look like your better off financially can come back to bite an applicant, if the visa officer thinks they are trying to lie about their situation.

update to this long drawn-out post! My husband's family had their visa appointment this morning and all were approved. Some interesting thoughts on the process: Although it was presumed they could NOT use a group visa, this is what they actually did. They were approved as a group, had all the same appointment time, and filled out their DS160's together. According to my brother in law, there seems to be a maximum number you can use for a family group visa. I'll get more info on this when we are all together in a couple months.

The only real information the interviewer focused on was if they had jobs. They were told beforehand to have our wedding invitation with them and also a letter from me stating when they'd be in the country, plus that they'd be staying at our house. They were also told to bring documents tying them to SA. None of this was asked for at the actual interview. So...

Tickets are purchased and they're all coming in October!
