Fiance Is At Airport, but They Won't Let Him Board With Visa

So, my fiance is at the airport, and Air France does not want to let him board. His K1 Visa expires June 8, and they are trying to tell him he needs a return ticket to Egypt before June 8 or he can't get on the plane. I sent two links to my fiance...

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/types/family/fiance-k-1.html#14

After You Receive a K-1 Fiancé(e) Visa

If you are issued a K-1 visa, the Consular Officer will give you your passport containing the K-1 visa and a sealed packet containing the civil documents you provided, plus other documents prepared by the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. It is important that you do not open the sealed packet. Only the DHS immigration official should open this packet when you enter the United States. As the K-1 visa holder, you must enter the United States either before or at the same time as any qualifying children holding K-2 visas.

With your visa, you can apply for a single admission at a U.S. port-of-entry within the validity of the visa, which will be a maximum of 6 months from the date of issuance. You must marry your U.S. citizen fiancé(e) within 90 days of your entry into the United States.--

AND

http://www.uscis.gov/family/family-us-citizens/fiancee-visa/fiancee-visas

After the Fiancé(e) Visa is Issued

Once issued, the fiancé(e) visa (or K-1 nonimmigrant visa) allows your fiancé(e) to enter the United States for 90 days so that your marriage ceremony can take place. Once you marry, your spouse may apply for permanent residence and remain in the United States while USCIS processes the application. For additional information, see the “Green Card” section.

What else can he show Air France, so they will understand and let him board?

Ask for a supervisor.

Or give in and buy a return ticket. You could get a refundable one and cancel it.

He made it. They told him he should thank them that they are/were potentially keeping him from doing something illegal :).

some airline people are so freaking stupid.

One of them is British Airways. I have taken vow not to fly with them and had kept it.

my wife was travailing with my 1.99 year old son few year back.

she had a greencard and ticket was all the way to US. but they says you need visa because there is airport change.

what the F. they didn't say this when we was flying to India.

I had to buy different ticket on different airline asap, as son was turning 2 year in two days and need full ticket for him as well after that.

2 weeks ago, before boarding in Charlotte to go back to Germany, the airline wanted to check the passports again.

I handed over my passport to the woman.

The woman asked me: what is you final destination?. I said: Germany.

She asked: So you will stay in Germany? can you show me your entry permit. I said: No I'm French.

She replied: You don't need an entry permit???????. I grabbed back my passport and left.

I was just shocked by her lack of knowledge! If she is the one checking the passports, she should have basic knowledge of immigration, at least in the zone where the plane goes!

It is not only French Airlines and it is scary because you have to prove double more that you can travel.

Lol, soon they'll be demanding American citizens get a return ticket for flying back home to their own country :D reminds me of some guy who was detained by cops in the US and since he was Hispanic, he had to prove he was legally there or he'd be detained by ICE. He's an American citizen! Dunno what happened to him, but anyway... it's bonkers they won't let you board with a valid visa. Totally in the wrong job.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

So you got what you wanted? Once he is here and free of their clutches, start to write complaint letters to the airline and demand better training for their ticket agents. There is no excuse for abject stupidity like that.

Don't worry. Airport "officials" are pretty clueless. I was checking in at the check-in machine, and one of the airline ladies came up and she was like, "Let me do that for you, ma'am." When it came to scan my GC, she put it in the credit card slot??? Even I, who'd never done it before, knew that was wrong. Of course it didn't "scan" and so she said, "You'll have to check in manually." I replied, "Well, the scanner is actually right there where you scanned my passpo___" "No, you'll have to check in at the desk."

Anyway, I'm glad I got that off my chest after four months of holding it in.

Also, my travel agent [in Australia] informed me that they no longer do one way tickets, only returns. It could vary per nation?

Though I'm sad many of us experience the frustration of working with ticket agents who are not knowledgeable about foreign travelers, there is a bit of a comfort knowing others have experienced what we are experiencing. I just hope future travels will be a little less stressful!
