  1. 1. Between Chinese incursions into Japanese waters, and their incursions into Philippine waters and Indian land as well, should the U.S. be concerned?

    • Yes. China is behaving like a bully. Bullies need to be dealt with before someone gets hurt.
    • No. China's manifest destiny can not be stopped.

Okay, now I have another question. Doesn't Japan have these sorts of people employed in the government? Land surveyers and engineers or whatever? Why do they ned a multinational company to bring people in?

Of course they do but drilling at sea requires expertise and large amounts of capital that is more the preserve of big multinationals. Like I said they know the resources are there but that is not the same as obtaining them. Japan does not have a state oil firm with huge levels of offshore drilling experience that countries like Norway do.

Ya think? So, all this stuff about becoming the world's number one economy was the result of that weakness. Cool. They lucked their way into that. They were also weak to grow the world's largest military of well over 2-million. Weak. Yeah, dats it.

And North Korea has the world's largest standing army. Size ain't everything, except when it comes to... well, nevermind.

Wherever China was involved the US was held to a standstill and eventually had to back out and go home. That includes Vietnam and North Korea. It was China we were really fighting in both wars.

America demonstrably lost Vietnam. But did China win? The regime that won the war is still in place now and they're not exactly friendly with Beijing.

America quit the Vietnam, specifically a Democratic Congress was unwilling to spend the money to keep the Republic of Vietnam supplied with sufficient resources to prevent being overrun by the NVA and Viet Cong. Nixon had won the war, the US was going home, and Vietnamization was working.

These islands represent several areas of interest to China, Japan, and Taiwan, which are:

1. Strategic and tactical advantages

2. Oil reserves and raw materials. China is currently the top producer of rare earth materials in the world.

3. Additionally, maintaining control of these islands represents a sense of patriotism in China that rivals the unity in a post-911 US. It's very unlikely that China will flinch, blink, or give in to any amount of political pressure from any country in the world.

To be sure, the US will NOT provide military support to Taiwan or Japan. They will take a back-seat approach and allow it to be settled between the two Asian countries and the other renegade province of China; that being Taiwan.

I read this earlier on a website. If you're gonna cut and paste, include the link.

If you want a link, feel free to add one. If you want to learn a little bit about what's going on with the Diaoyu Islands and how the various countries view it, then you should get your ####### busy and start doing some research.

I already did. That's why I know what you "wrote" was copied directly from another website. If you want to quote stuff, cool but provide link instead of trying to pass it off as your own.

Okay mother hen, so you're accusing me of copying what I wrote from another location, that has a different author than me and I'm claiming it to be my own? Prove it!
