It is pretty well covered on this:

Page 15.

You can also see this link and the section on denials based on public charge grounds - which explains why Susie was talking about being on AP until you prove you won't become a public charge.

MANY people convince themselves that because they don't see it listed on the required docs for their embassy that they do not have to do anything. That is a mistake - because proof of financial ability can be asked for in any DV interview (even though it often is not).

Apart from anything else - you need to be prepared to support yourself when going there. Their requirement for savings (around $10k per adult) is a lot less than I would have been comfortable with as a backup plan....

Hey Britsimon,

This is really good info! Thanks for posting this! However, my question to you would be, if I am able to show I have around $20K, would I still require an AOS/I-134?

I got my GC based on an F2B which later converted to an F2A. It took close to 10yrs during which I tried applying for the DV unsuccessfully. My GF who is a first time applicant got selected for DV2015! We're keeping our fingers crossed.

Generally speaking, no - that amount of savings would cover a single applicant and actually 1 derivative (adult). However, as I have mentioned previously, there are some countries that do not trust bank statements - and therfore want an aos anyway. Normally if that is the case the embassy has local guidelines to explain that.

current

Current means that at the end e everybody got an interview and that month they estimated they would have visas for all the remaining participants. So, unless something unexpected happened, everybody who passed the interview got the visa.

Born in Romania, been living in the US since 2007 (F1 visa)

F1 visa 2007-2011, 2011-2016 - OPT received August 25, 2014

DV-2015 Selectee - Case Number EU30,7xx - Interview estimate: May/June 2015 (?) - Might try to do AOS though it looks like it might be worse this year

HI all,

I have two questions:

1. Can somebody roughly estimate when is my interview going to be. Case number is 2015EU000057XX?

2. Assuming that everything goes well, do I have to move to US in less than 6 months from the interview date, or there will be some additional processing or something?

Thanks!

Some people will have additional "administrative processing". Generally from countries where they are concerned about terrorism, or high visa fraud. Also a term used if you are for example missing a document that they need. Most people do not go on AP. Your visa will be valid for a maximum 6 months, sometimes shorter if medicals expiring. You need to land with that before it expires. That will activate your permanent residency/green card, and you can leave again if you wish . You then have up to a year to make the move permanent. If you stay out longer than a year (without a reentry permit) you are automatically deemed to have abandoned residency and lose green card.

Relax. The case numbers are not one number per person. It is one number per case (so a family will have one number) but there are lots of "holes" (I.e. Numbers are not consecutive). Also you don't need so many people to be rejected. Over half of selectees typically don't pursue their application, either don't send DS forms back or just don't come to the interview. It has been years and years since AF80xxx did not get an interview.

This year is less than last year but I am pretty sure 81k will have been current by September. I don't expect to see all AF numbers current this year.

With Nigeria out, if they keep the overall allocation to Africa roughly the same it will be positive for other AF applicants. Not sure if the regional quota will change.

Hi, sorry for asking similar questions to everybody else, but I just wanted to check with you if my understanding is correct.

I have an OC number for FY2015 of 3XX. I have completed my DS-260, and I am collecting original documentation.

1. Am I correct, based on reading past bulletins, that my interview is most likely to be scheduled to take place in October or November 2014?

2. My interview and doctor's appointment will be in London. Does anybody know how much notice tends to be provided by this Embassy of an appointment time? As in, am I likely to receive email notification of my interview time very soon, or will it be in September/October or so?

Thanks!

1. Probably

2. Notification of appointment comes from KCC, not the embassy. The same website you got your selection letter on will be updated with the interview info. (The only email you will get is telling you the website is updated and to check it, they don't put the interview info in emails for security reasons.) That is usually a few days to a week after the visa bulletin showing your number in is published. So if you have an interview in October, you will probably know about it by mid-August.
