Please answer the following questions if you don't mind. Thanks in advance..

I'm a US citizen. We received the email from NVC "The National Visa Center has received all documentation necessary to complete pre-processing of your case. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled..."

1) How long is the average wait time @Mumbai US Consulate?

2) Do I have to schedule the interview or is it assigned automatically?

3) Should we expect the interview letter via email or regular mail?

4) We submitted the originals of the marriage certificate, pcc, birth certificate and AOFs to the NVC prior to the approval. what other documents does she have to bring for the in person interview?

5) Does she have to wait until she receives the interview letter to do the medical screening?

6) Please tell me if we can possibly do anything in the mean time?

Thanks a lot.

You should get a June interview. Read the June 2014 interviews thread.

2) Do I have to schedule the interview or is it assigned automatically?

automatically.

3) Should we expect the interview letter via email or regular mail?

I do not know.

4) We submitted the originals of the marriage certificate, pcc, birth certificate and AOFs to the NVC prior to the approval. what other documents does she have to bring for the in person interview?

The packet IV letter will tell you what to bring. You can bring additional documents to prove relationship if you want.

5) Does she have to wait until she receives the interview letter to do the medical screening?

YES

6) Please tell me if we can possibly do anything in the mean time?

Read the mumbai consulate related page on the website. Mail or email the required documents to the beneficiary. The AOS packet, DS-260 and 261 confirmation page etc.

Thanks a lot.

For question 3) You will get the I/L by email.

Most important: Once you get the I/L you need to schedule the Biometrics wherever the Beneficiary is located. Assuming the beneficiary is in mumbai, please ask him/her to schedule it and get that done. Need to make sure DS260 confirmation page has the stamp from the VAC center where the biometrics will be taken.

*********Consulate will not allow the beneficiary inside for the VISA interview if you the beneficiary does not have the stamp on DS260 confirmation page from the VAC center(this indicates you did the biometrics before the VISA interview at the VAC center). I personally saw two people refused entry because of this. ********************************

Thank you all!. My life resides in Kerala. I just want to clarify the following..

First of all, my wife (applicant) has to register as a new user @ http://www.ustraveldocs.com to schedule appointment for finger prints & photographs. am I right? But I am kind of confused because it's asking me to fill out the whole biodata and it's also showing me the earliest interview date available on the left corner although the interview date has already been set by the NVC

Does she have to schedule the visa pick up locations at the same time?

In the mean time she should complete the medical report from an approved physician. right?

Thanks a lot in advance..

You need to schedule for biometrics only after you get the I/L. Yes she has to create a profile first as a new user and then schedule for the biometrics. You have to schedule oly for the biometrics and not for the VISA interview at the consulate which is set by NVC. For now just create the profile and after you get the I/L you can schedule biometrics at VAC.

You cannot do the medical again without the I/L. So wait for the I/L.

wow this's a process..

Is OFC the biometric screening & what screenings are really included in OFC?

What documents are required to show for the OFC? Does she really need to bring all the following documents?

  • Checklist for Immigrant Visa (IV) Applicants (including K-1 Fiancé Visa)
  • ● Appointment confirmation letter
  • ● Your current passport and most recently expired passport
  • ● Print out of the DS-260 (or DS-160 for K visas) confirmation page
  • ● Police clearance certificate from the regional passport office
  • ● Medical report (X-ray films and discs not required)
  • ● Original and photocopy of birth and marriage certificates
  • ● Affidavit of Support (Form I-864 or I-134), sponsor’s recent tax returns, job letter, and pay stub.
  • ● Proof of relationship between petitioner and beneficiary
  • Additional Documents For K-1 Applicants Only
  • ● K-1 visa fee payment receipt

Should she complete the medical prior to OFC?

Thanks a lot

Assuming your case is IR/CR, you need to read up the links i posted in this thread which i believe you haven't at all. Posting one last time.

http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/in-iv-visaapply.asp

Red Step 7:-

Step 7

For your Visa Application Centre appointment, you will need to bring:

  • Your appointment confirmation page.
  • One photograph as per U.S. visa specifications if the applicant is under 14 years of age See the Photos and Fingerprints page for more details.
