Recently married + not yet living together

Hello people,

I recently got married to my long term girlfriend. A genuine marriage, both families know one another. However, we are both in grad school and we plan to start living together two years from now when we both graduate.

How will this affect the filing process, as we are now expected to be living together. There's a place on the form that asked for our joint address.

Please help with this. Thank you all.

You are expected to be living together but it is not a deal breaker. All you need do is explain your situation is asked by the USCIS. You will need to use one address as your joint address. Pick the address that makes more sense to you. Good luck!

The address will need to be the immigrant's, as only the local USCIS office having jursdiction over the immigrant's place of residence can approve an AOS.
