Hi Members,

My fiancee in Kiev is getting mixed signals about the documents she needs for the K-1 visa.

Is there a site similar to VisaJourney in Ukrainian/Russian where information is exchanged to help and inform those beginning the process?

Thank you,

George

You file for the K-1 in the US, so the documents are the same regardless of what country your fiancee is in. Are you talking about documents/info for packet 3 & 4 from the Ukranian Embassy?

Nanusia & Lukaszek,

The documents needed for my filings in the U.S. are straightforward. Yes, I'm concerned she will be on a scavenger hunt in Kiev for many documents that are not needed. I have not filed the initial I-129f petition yet. We're in the process of gathering the forms needed for the 129, and those needed later.

Is there a "definitive" list of the documents she will need? And a place to ask if there are conditions or twists to how she will fill them out?

Thank you for your time,

George

Google is your friend (so is the consulate in Kiev)

You might try posting something in the regional forum under Russia. Someone maybe willing to write your fiancee and help her through this. But as stated earlier, the steps are pretty clear. Follow the guidelines and you will be fine. If you have specific questions, then post those. It is hard for us to help with only general ideas of the problems.

Review the documents needed again and remember that your fiancee will need to get each document certified with an English translation.

What confusion are you having? Have you read the embassy website? There is information there and you can download packet 3 and 4. The only confusion I have had is that on the site it says that you can use the I-134 to show support, but in packet 3 it specifically warns that I-134 is not sufficient.

We have NAO2, have passed through the NVC, and are now waiting for interview, so we can give you some help, I think, but I am not sure what is alarming to you.

It also specifically states that the I-134 is optional..... I have already spoken to my fiancee that eventhough I have provided her with the I-134, she is not to present it to the CO unless the other financial information is not sufficient. Since my income is about 6 times the minimum I am hoping she can just keep it in her pocket.

YMMV

Thanks to all for the insight and the link to the Kiev embassy. I forwarded the packet 3 and 4 information to my fiancee. This will put our efforts in the correct direction.
