Travel disruptions next week & on-going disruptions at Bond Street Station

Hi All,



Just wanted to remind those who have an interview next week that there is another three day walk-out next starting at 9 pm on 5 th May, unless they get their heads bashed together beforehand. So anyone down there then should be prepared for delays.



On another transport related issue that is affecting Bond Street Tube Station only - see below:


  • From 23 April to late June: Central line trains will not stop at the station while while a lift shaft is constructed
  • From July to early December: Jubilee line trains will not stop at the station while extensive work to improve access to the Jubilee line platforms is carried out
  • The station will then operate on an exit and interchange only basis until the end of 2014 to enable future tunnelling works

As this is the nearest tube to the Embassy it could hinder quite a few when attending their interviews!



We have our interview tomorrow (2/5/2014) so just missed out on the disruptions!

I had my interview on Tuesday of this week. With the trains all off it was a nightmare. I ended up just ordering a cab for 7am as I knew the buses would be jammed packed. I stayed in Kensington Close Hotel in Kensington High St, I live in N. Ireland and interview was scheduled for 8am so had to stay over. The reason I chose that particular hotel was because the nearest underground was only a 2 minute walk away and it was a good price. But ended up having to take a cab......£17 for a 10 minute journey!! Got the bus back to the hotel but there were about 100 people standing at the bus stop so just had to join the queue. Eventually got back to the hotel, but then had to get another taxi back to Heathrow for my flight to Belfast .......this time it was £35!!!! So my advice would be to either stay in a hotel within walking distance to the embassy or give yourself LOADS of time for your journey.

I just missed out on the disruption from my medical, the good news is that the clinic isn't all that far from Victoria or even Waterloo. I walked to Waterloo after my appointment and you walk past Buckingham Palace and through Green Park :)

I am only a 45 minute train journey into Euston but I'm unsure whether to book a hotel near the embassy and just travel on the monday and then walk to the embassy in the morning on Tuesday

I can get a 5am train on Tuesday into euston but if the tubes are on strike then it's going to be a pain

My interview is May 9th. I live in Scotland so am travelling to Euston on the 8th, then staying at the Copthorne Tara in Kensington. Looks like a 45 minute walk through Hyde Park to the embassy is my best bet on the morning of the 9th.

Phem0r, that sounds like a risk in my opinion. But then I'm a worrier :(

I just read the strike is going ahead and that the limited service that will be running, will NOT be stopping at Bond Street

I don't know what to do..

I also have my interview on Tuesday 6th and I'm planning on getting into Charing Cross nice and early and walking. I have friends in London who've said that there are tubes running, but a limited service and the ones that do run are pretty packed. Therefore a half hour walk seems infinitely preferable!

I have my medical on Tuesday, and given how close the doctors like to get I didn't want to have to cycle in from Hackney, but needs must...

I surprised her with a proposal in Los Angeles, and this is how it went down!

Gosh, I was mildly panicking about how to get into Central London early in the morning without the tubes being out of service.

Hopefully I get nice appointment times like 9/10am, otherwise I will definitely be getting a hotel nearby and walking to the medical office and embassy.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

 

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

 

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.
