David Beckham will be leaving Real Madrid in order to sign for LA Galaxy at the end of the season in a deal which means he will see out his career in the United States.

[...]

It now seems that Beckham is to sign a five-year deal with the American club, contracting him until the age of 37 when he will likely retire from professional football.

Galaxy owner Philip Anschutz and manager Alexi Lalas had both for some time expressed a keen interest in bringing 'Brand Beckham' to the west coast of the United States and Beckham himself has also spoken in positive terms about moving to the MLS before he retires.

[...]

...Beckham appears to have been tempted by the Los Angeles team's supposed offer to pay the former Manchester United star a lower basic wage but give him total control over his own sponsorship deals and related off-field activities.

Beckham is also thought to want to establish a chain of soccer schools for children in the US and a move to LA will afford him the luxury of being able to personally oversee such a venture.

It seemed likely he would retire and move to the US, he has a Coaching set up here?

Many Pro's do this to top up their pensions, not that he really needs this.

Madrid was a bad move, he might have managed a few years more elsewhere.

I do remember visting the Theatre of Nightmares, he was on the bench and warmed up in front of us. 3,000 away supporters enquired 'Does she take it up the #######', well 2,999, I had to explain it to my wife.

Certainly nothing to compare in the US.

I know there are better players out there now, but I still love watching Beckham. Most of it has to do with just how gorgeous he is, but it's also due to his charisma and all of the rumors that swirl around him. Maybe if he moves out to L.A., it will generate more of an American interest in soccer.

I hope he doesn't bring "The Stick" with him. One of the benefits of moving to the USA was no more Victoria "I'm so POUTY" Beckham. Damn. :P

Lol she's following you!

Wouldn't that be great if Rebecca Loos came too?

Hahaha! If Sharon Osborne is over here at the moment there could be blood shed! They got into a right old feud in the UK a few months back. It was funny....

within a year then!

I think you can take this prediction to the bank! They should have odds on it at Ladbrokes, lol But if they did, it'd prolly be even money or less...

I'm obviously not a big footy expert...I've only been introd to the game since 2002...BUT...in my estimation, it's kind of a crappy way to end such a wonderful career. Top of the world at Man U and England Capt only to move to Madrid and not be starting on a majority of the games...to muck up the Euro the way he did  to be removed as Eng Capt ...and now to end his career in a country where it's not a game that the majority of ppl support? it's kinda sad that instead of going out with a bang, it's more of a slow dying whimper.

Granted, the money aspect is unreal, so I guess it's a good oppty for him and his fam...1 mil a week, that's just unreal. But I'm NOT happy about having them over here, and I swear if Victoria tries to ressurect her singing 'career' one more time, I'm going to have to hurt someone.
