So I finally got my case number on December 17--I've been travelling, though, so it hasn't been so simple to get online. I was able to pay the AOS fee on Saturday.

It's been busy. NVC no longer requires originals but you WILL need the originals at Embassy stage, so make sure you have them.

Only a handful of countries have EP. My case will deviate from many of yours here as I am Canadian and will be using EP.

Met in 2010 on a forum for a mutual interest. Became friends.
2011: Realized we needed to evaluate our status as friends when we realized we were talking about raising children together.

2011/2012: Decided we were a couple sometime in, but no possibility of being together due to being same sex couple.

June 26, 2013: DOMA overturned. American married couples ALL have the same federal rights at last! We can be a family!

June-September, 2013: Discussion about being together begins.

November 13, 2013: Meet in person to see if this could work. It's perfect. We plan to elope to Boston, MA.

March 13, 2014 Married!

May 9, 2014: Petition mailed to USCIS

May 12, 2014: NOA1.
October 27, 2014: NOA2. (5 months, 2 weeks, 1 day after NOA1)
October 31, 2014: USCIS ships file to NVC (five days after NOA2) Happy Halloween for us!

November 18, 2014: NVC receives our case (22 days after NOA2)

December 17, 2014: NVC generates case number (50 days after NOA2)

December 19, 2014: Receive AOS bill, DS-261. Submit DS-261 (52 days after NOA2)

December 20, 2014: Pay AOS Fee

January 7, 2015: Receive, pay IV Fee

January 10, 2015: Complete DS-260

January 11, 2015: Send AOS package and Civil Documents
March 23, 2015: Case Complete at NVC. (70 days from when they received docs to CC)

May 6, 2015: Interview at Montréal APPROVED!

May 11, 2015: Visa in hand! One year less one day from NOA1.

I think i got screwed guys i received my NOA2 on October 16th. and the NVC just received my case on December 9th. I had called the USCIS sometime in late Novemeber and was wondering why they hadn't shipped to NVC. I had to call like 2 times and finally spoke with a supervisor who told me that my case was still there and hadn't been shipped and he even said it was odd and a little bit behind the normal time. Basically they dropped the ball and my case didn't get shipped to NVC when it was suppose to. It sat in the USCIS offices a month longer then it should have He apolgized and had it shipped to NVC. So basically i am a month behind of where i should be. If i had never called my case would still be at the vermont office. You cant lay off these people! they will screw you if you let them. i just received military orders so hopefully once i finally get a case number which im sure wont be until like january 9th they will approve my expedite request.

Khushi_05, Please when did they -NVC- receive your case?.....I'm still waiting

Sorry Nyala for late reply. I was away from my house.

NVC received my case on Nov 17th. However, when I was calling them in Nov, the rep was telling me that they received my case on Nov 21st.

But originally NVC received my case on NOV 17th & I have received my case # on Dec 22nd.

Hoping Best for You too :)

Best of Luck. You will also get your case # soon.

I heard the process is getting faster, NVC no longer require original docs, & they r not talking 60 days to review all the docs which is good sign.

Does any one has sample cover sheet form?

I have paid my AOS fees & currently it is in process.

I have all my AOS docs ready in order NVC wants (NVC send me an email with case # & what docs they require in order)

I just want to make sure b/c I do not want any check list.

ONE MORE QUESTION is that when NVC send me the list of docs they want it has AOS & Supporting docs ( marriage certi, birth certi, passport copy, police clearance & all) - part of beneficiary docs. Can I send those docs with AOS docs?

I have all the copy of the beneficiary docs. Hope not missing anything..

Thank You & Happy New Year to All the members of VJ. This new year will brings us closer to our family :)

Here's the link to the NVC process guide. It has a sample cover sheet in it and the steps to follow. The AOS and IV packets can now be sent together, but follow Saylin's guide about how to package them up and send them so that you don't accidentally get a checklist.
