1st day of May, and I am at NVC doing the IV package now. Though people say that since we are philippines that means we have a faster track then others.

Hi everyone,

my husband and I intend to post our AoS package this week from Australia.

We haven't received the IV fee yet, so we are unable to pay that.

Just wondering, does the interview get scheduled after the AoS package, or after AoS and IV package? Also, approximately how long will that take?

So nervous, but definitely ready for all this to be over :)

Good luck for the rest of you!

After AOS and IV package is approved, then only the interview can be scheduled for IR1/CR1 Categories.

The overall process is taking about 3 and half months from NOA2 date to case complete.

We have paid the IV fee!! We are on the home stretch :) I am applying for hubbys police clearance now and will be sending all of this off within the week!

With the IV package, do you only send in the checklist and required forms (original birth cert, original marriage cert, copy of passport, original police clearance). I can't find any forms to be signed or completed so it is all ready to go.

Finally guys - I got my NOA2 yesterday. Looks like I'll be moving on to the NVC.

I was four and half months into waiting. Have patience - it looks like USCIS are pulling their act together.

Now chronicling my experience in handy blog format at

Oh wow. Lucky. I hope NVC goes faster for you than it has been. I'm getting so discouraged looking at it. But hey, your NOA1 was three days before mine, maybe, just maybe, my NOA2 will come soon.

Met in 2010 on a forum for a mutual interest. Became friends.
2011: Realized we needed to evaluate our status as friends when we realized we were talking about raising children together.

2011/2012: Decided we were a couple sometime in, but no possibility of being together due to being same sex couple.

June 26, 2013: DOMA overturned. American married couples ALL have the same federal rights at last! We can be a family!

June-September, 2013: Discussion about being together begins.

November 13, 2013: Meet in person to see if this could work. It's perfect. We plan to elope to Boston, MA.

March 13, 2014 Married!

May 9, 2014: Petition mailed to USCIS

May 12, 2014: NOA1.
October 27, 2014: NOA2. (5 months, 2 weeks, 1 day after NOA1)
October 31, 2014: USCIS ships file to NVC (five days after NOA2) Happy Halloween for us!

November 18, 2014: NVC receives our case (22 days after NOA2)

December 17, 2014: NVC generates case number (50 days after NOA2)

December 19, 2014: Receive AOS bill, DS-261. Submit DS-261 (52 days after NOA2)

December 20, 2014: Pay AOS Fee

January 7, 2015: Receive, pay IV Fee

January 10, 2015: Complete DS-260

January 11, 2015: Send AOS package and Civil Documents
March 23, 2015: Case Complete at NVC. (70 days from when they received docs to CC)

May 6, 2015: Interview at Montréal APPROVED!

May 11, 2015: Visa in hand! One year less one day from NOA1.

I filed with VSC back in May (NOA1 is 5/27) and just received the NOA2 on 9/24

I'm usually a silent member, but since this site and users are so helpful, I thought I'd send out my update and give hope to others that the USCIS is (slowly) processing things...

Now next week I begin the NVC process, which I was hoping would go quickly, but now we shall wait and see.
