Ok, one thing I would like to add about the postal loss and delay point. I still have to send the PCC, my certified birth certificate and my certified marriage certificate to my husband (If I want the iv package to be sent from US) by post from India. :( I used the speed post with tracking facility earlier so that I can track my package.

Also I read in VJ member saylin's wiki, http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process that the IV package can be sent from anywhere in the world.

Although I agree with you completely about the safer options but the above is also a possibility.

Didn't you already send in the certified marriage certificate to uscis? Because I had sent mine in with the I-130. Whatever you do, just make sure to use a reliable postal service and make sure sure to have a tracking number.

No we sent only a scanned copy of marriage certificate during I130 submission. I think NVC needs the certified version.

Hi everyone, I have been following this post for sometime now and my heart is in panic mode.....I met my husband and we married In May 2014. I have begun the arduous journey of gathering my documents and have hit a snag...one is I am unemployed (temping here and there and receive disability income in CAN) Yes I can work, more then willing and had great interviews and high paying jobs (still pending on job offers). I am a college graduate as a Legal Assistant so yes I got a trade. The other snag is my Husbands 20 year old son who just dropped out of college and lost his job. He is a adult according state law..(his son will be filing his own taxes this year) but is he another person my hubby has to claim? if so that bumps up the income requirement...sighs and we are stretched as it is...thankfully family has offered to step up and assist us in joint sponsorship....my question is what have been your road blocks...and how was everyone feeling when doing this? I don't know about you all but I am freak the #### out! I am actually very terrified to file atm..we plan to file in FEB 2015 after his taxes come in (his income should be close the making the required amount) Has anyone gotten a unemployed spouse approved?

Do not worry about getting an unemployed spouse approved. Employment is not a criteria for a foreign spouse to be approved though extra income do help during the financial requirement stage. But one thing to keep in mind is that if you have willing joint sponsors then I dont see why there will be any problem. As long as your husband along with the joint sponsor, meet the minimum income requirements as per the poverty guidelines for affidavit of support you dont need to worry about the approval. (I think you are the beneficiary right? ) We too plan to have a joint sponsor.

About his son's part, if his son files for taxes separately then he is not anymore dependent on your husband. So, there's no neeed to count an extra person during calculating minimum income requirement.

So, dont worry. Everything will be fine.

THANK YOU!!!! This has been a huge sigh of relief! This is so stressful! Thankfully with my law background I am able to assemble the package with relative ease! But still the fear creeps ins...is it enough? sighs I wish everyone the best of luck! We are going to file in Feb 2015, until then its nail biting time to get it all together!

Oh that's wonderful that you have a law background. Makes the job quite easy. I remember how many sleepless nights I spent during gathering information about how to assemble the I130 package. :) So, tension is common during this immigration process. I put so much effort in assembling them. Still I kept on worrying about RFEs. But today my petition got approved. Finally got the NOA2. :)

Best of luck with the immigration process. :)

WOW congrats! I know about the sleepless nights! Just going through the paperwork alone is high stresser then the Bonifides! I am still assembling the I130 and working on the phase two of it all...I have even begun to get my immunizations up to date and ran blood work to see where i am health wise...( a little exercise is needed lol). Thankfully I am used to collecting my Exhibits lol...but still...one does wonder in the late night...is it enough....ill know when i file.

Its obvious now that am the only May filler that is still waiting for approval. Ooº°˚ ˚°ºoo Lord, why am I stuck with Nebraska. Sob! Sob!

I think NSC is moving slower than other service centers. Hope you get your approval soon. Until yesterday I was also thinking that inspite of the fact that CSC is considerably fast right now, (Many got approved just within a month) I am the only one left out. But today the approval came to my surprise. You will also be surprised like that VERY SOON.

Good luck.

You're not the only one. I think pretty much everyone, including me, stuck at Nebraska is still waiting for approval. :)
