Congrats for your approval. Were you transferred to NSC? Where did you file your petition? Your profile is indicating CSC as filing location?

Sorry for the confusion i filed in phoenix lockbox and from California. I have been directly routed to Nebraska.

Thank you for the welcome!

Is it normal that my wife has been approved first? Im just worried that my child will left behind. What should i do?

Short of your wife booking a ticket without your child, I wouldn't worry!

The next phase of the process is the NVC and how long that takes is largely down to you. If it takes a little longer for your child to be approved, then you could always hold off submitting your documents and paying your fees to the NVC. Failing that, much farther down the line, if your wife was somehow approved for a visa before your child, she still has three months to travel to her port of entry in the US. I wouldn't worry at all. Be patient, and the NOA2 for your child should be there shortly.

The best recommendation for separated petitions is definitely to not complete nvc until the second one is approved at uscis.

Met in 2010 on a forum for a mutual interest. Became friends.
2011: Realized we needed to evaluate our status as friends when we realized we were talking about raising children together.

2011/2012: Decided we were a couple sometime in, but no possibility of being together due to being same sex couple.

June 26, 2013: DOMA overturned. American married couples ALL have the same federal rights at last! We can be a family!

June-September, 2013: Discussion about being together begins.

November 13, 2013: Meet in person to see if this could work. It's perfect. We plan to elope to Boston, MA.

March 13, 2014 Married!

May 9, 2014: Petition mailed to USCIS

May 12, 2014: NOA1.
October 27, 2014: NOA2. (5 months, 2 weeks, 1 day after NOA1)
October 31, 2014: USCIS ships file to NVC (five days after NOA2) Happy Halloween for us!

November 18, 2014: NVC receives our case (22 days after NOA2)

December 17, 2014: NVC generates case number (50 days after NOA2)

December 19, 2014: Receive AOS bill, DS-261. Submit DS-261 (52 days after NOA2)

December 20, 2014: Pay AOS Fee

January 7, 2015: Receive, pay IV Fee

January 10, 2015: Complete DS-260

January 11, 2015: Send AOS package and Civil Documents
March 23, 2015: Case Complete at NVC. (70 days from when they received docs to CC)

May 6, 2015: Interview at Montréal APPROVED!

May 11, 2015: Visa in hand! One year less one day from NOA1.

I hate having everyone know my case in Nebraska got approved so fast, cause that puts allot of hope in others wanting there case approved in the same time frame; and then the other side people who have waited the 5-9 month time frame... I wish it was streamed for everyone, not just bad situations that make our processing go faster...

One thing I do like about this time and age, is being able to talk to my spouse so much more then just by letters... Able to chat each day, some times even three or more times. I love being able to reassure that everything is ahead of schedule, and wanting to be together so much...

@ PINOY - I would call the service center and ask about your child's visa, since your wife was approved and both were submitted at the same time. Same time, I can not imagine immigration is going to sit down with a child and ask all the questions they would ask of the spouse or parent. Seriously, a case worker asking a 2 year old... That's the tax payers money at work right there!

Thank God for being in the high-tech age, haha. It's refreshing to be able to talk to my spouse everyday.:)

Being from where I'm from and looking up processing times, it's really really hard to remain optimistic... It's looking like I'll call 2014 "my visa year". The more I find out, the more I'm certain I'm at least a year away.

I feel you. Our biggest mistake was to wait for about three months for my birth certificate to be corrected (edit: btw, I'm the beneficiary), thinking that it is required in sending our i-130.

If only we knew and read that we can actually file it w/o the birth cert as early as January, then maybe we are now moved to the next step. We really felt stupid. Haha. And that made our wait time longer. Therefore, I would call 2014 as "my visa year" as well. ?

Anyways, at least we were able to start the process. Sometimes, I would whine whole day to my husband about this prolonged long distance relationship we are having, and he always tells me that we should keep praying about it and know that we'll be together again soon. :)

So yeah, there are several times we lose our patience over this whole visa thing. I often do, haha. But I'm sure I'm experiencing all of these for the good.

Let's keep praying :)

4/30/15 - Sent the same copy of the decree absolute to the NVC from the UK, highlighting the "decree absolute" wording with a letter stating that this is the only document provided by the UK government.

Great! I'm glad to hear that.

Just a quick tip for you all as I haven't seen it mentioned on any other threads/Wikis. Apologies if this is already common knowledge. After your NOA1, USCIS should mail you a I-797; the hard copy of your NOA1 (I think). This will contain a receipt number starting with three letters. With this receipt number, you can check the status of your case on the USCIS website under "My Case Status". You can also create an account adding your receipt number and sign up for notifications of changes to your status via e-mail and text messages. I'd highly recommend doing so to preempt any RFEs.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

I just wanted to know how it is different from the details entered in G1145 form that we sent along I130 petition. I have also signed up for My Case Status but the details that I entered like email id and mobile number are identical to that of G1145. I was just wondering whether these two means of getting information are same or not?
