HI all,

Finally had some time to do more than just troll the posts looking at everyone else's notes and thought I'd jump into the right month's post. :)

We got our NOA1 on 5/12/14 for Nebraska (like almost everyone else in this thread), so fingers crossed that they speed things up a bit. The hubby is in the UK and the only good thing is that I travel there for work a LOT, so get to see him more than most people on here do. After reading some of these threads, as much as I hate how long this is going to take, at least I can consider myself lucky enough to see him in person every few weeks for 3-4 weeks at a time.

Good luck all! Can't wait to have him here with me in Dallas!!!

Welcome to the thread! Good luck to you too!

Hi All,

Canadian Citizen, married to American Citizen living in Toronto for the past 7 years (married 7 years). Leaving Canada for the U.S.

Just submitted the I-130 (along with the G-325a for the both of us) and item was delivered successfully today :)

Will be visiting my in-laws for a few days in June. Will this cause any issues for me crossing the border?

Also, anyone what the approximate wait time is from end to end in terms of submitting the app I-130 to getting the Greed Card for Canadian Citizens?

Many thanks!

I think I went over board on mine, so don't think by doing it would fast track, but I thought if I was a government employee who just wanted to get threw the day, since the supervisor would say you need to handle at least 20+ cases a day best get the easy ones out of the way. They see mine, it's in a binder, all the pages out in page protectors, all the pages have tabs with each marking what that tab is. Everything that can be typed, and not using a pen is done so there is no way they can not read my writing. Cover letter explaining all the contents, table of contents, that 1145 along with the payment just slipped into the page protector. No staples, since against pay in the side to get that staple puller out, then the 130 form, marriage certificate, my 325 form along with passport photo, my birth certificate, beneficiary 325 along with passport photo, beneficiary passport, beneficiary birth certificate, Bon a fide evidence: photos, affidavit from 2 non family members, western union money transfers, bought a cow with receipt under married name, airline itineraries printed out, hotel itineraries printed out, and four months worth of chat log.

Over board? Probably, but if they look throw it and their only complaint is I miss spelled or forgot to check a box and everything else is ok, I can live with overwhelming them. I figure the people at service center will spend more time looking at the 90+ photos, the wanting to really read four months of chatting. But I can safely say I did everything I could to show a Bon a fide relationship, which is my biggest worry. Although waiting as the other person who posted from May 2013, I hope it does not take a year just to get through service center. Half a year, fine no problem. Now I would get really upset if after a six month wait I get a notice that there was a problem with one of the forms... That would suck, then having to wait even longer.

Would a lawyer really speed things along or just save from chewing finger nails to the quick? I don't know, but I like to think we are smart enough not to give our money away to vultures. Others have done so, why not us.

Hope that helps you Ms!

The only problem might be that you bought a cow... just kidding.

Hi! Welcome to the thread. I honestly can't say whether crossing the border whilst your I-130 petition is in processing will pose a problem (NotATailor - have you done or are you intending to do this?), but what I would advise you to do as a safeguard is take some form of documentation to indicate you intend to return home. For example, confirmation of a return flight ticket, pay stubs for current employment, a current tenancy agreement for a leased property, utility bills, or even a letter from your employer confirming your position with them might work in your favour in the instance you hit a snag coming through immigration.

The current processing timeframe for all I-130 approvals is within five months, but if you read back through this thread you'll find that that's not always the case and can be later than that. On top of that you have another few months processing at the NVC stage (dependent on how quick you pay your fees and submit your documents), and a further wait whilst an interview is scheduled at the Embassy. Either way, it'll be around 8-9 months minimum if all goes smoothly. I'd suggest having a nose through the immigration timelines maintained by other VJ members for your visa type, service center and country of origin for a better idea.

Again, welcome, and best of luck to you!

I'll be crossing at Pearson on the 26th of June to (dundundun) meet the in laws. Rule of thumb is to make sure you have a return ticket and proof of ties to your home country. In my case, I sublet a room, so I'll be taking my sublet agreement, my receipt for July's rent, my petsitting contact with my flatmate (who will be looking after my rats and cat), my travel itinerary (showing proof of return ticket) , a letter from my boss saying when I'm expected back and a copy of my noa1. The copy of noa1 is to demonstrate that my immigration journey is being done entirely above board and that I won't risk that.

I'm hoping this will be enough evidence that I'm returning to Canada. Mind, when I went to get married, the guy didn't even ask me any questions, just stamped my passport.

Be confident in where you're staying and how long and what your plans are, look them in the eye and it should be fine, by all accounts.

Sorry for not updating everyone! I received our NOA 2 on May 16th! So our processing time at Nebraska was roughly 3-4 weeks. Stay positive everyone! My days have been scrambling to put together the IV and AOS packages... Lazy of me I know, but thought I would start putting them together around the 3 month wait since everyone was saying the wait times were between 5-9 months. I hope all of you are as blessed as we are and that you have smooth sailing and fair seas!

Congrats net2684! Unfortunately, I think the rest of us not filing for the Philippines are in the 5-9 month boat, but fingers crossed that they do manage to speed things up for the non-expedited countries, too! :)
