wow that wasn't so bad.

all i need to do now is wait for my visa to be delivered.

am so happy

from what i've read everyone's experience is different.

i have been waiting for a while, till it was my turn to give advice.

so here's my version.

08:25

outside US Embassy. a lady checked my name on her list. security guard checked my appointment letter & passport. then a short walk to the security check tent, to x-ray my bag. another walk around the US Embassy in order to enter the building. there were plenty of signs saying "VISA". receptionist asks what i was there for. then went up the stairs on the left. entered another set of doors. boy were those doors hard to open.

08:31

got my ticket from a gentleman checking my appointment letter. i got ticket #1. sat down & waited till my number was called.

08:45

got called to window 1. nice chinese lady greeted me, who was a bit disorientated, cos i think i was the first immigrant visa applicant. she asked for my passport, 2 photos, birth certificate (+copy), police certificate (+copy), affidavit of support from my fiance & letter from my fiance's employer. was told to pay $100 @ window 12(cashier) for the processing fee & then come back to her. got to chat about what i did for a living & where i was from. my fingerprints were taken. finally she gave me a pink form to fill in for the courier, stating where my visa will be delivered. kept this form until the end. stage 1 done.

09:10

took my seat & waited for my number to be called again. your number also appears on the tv screens in the room.

10:05

yippee! final stage of interview went to window 16. young american lady greeted me. she was looking at the original photos sent with application & asked about them. she told me to hold up my right hand & swear that all i tell her was correct.

below are the questions she asked:

where did you meet?

do you visit the states often?

does your fiance visit the uk?

how often has he come to the uk?

when was the last time you saw each other?

how did you meet?

when was the first time you met?

is there a big age difference between you?

how old are you?

how old is he?

where was he born?

have you met his parents?

has he met your parents?

i think that was it. then she said all was ok & fine. that i need to give my pink form to the courier people. i got back my birth certificate & police certificate originals.

10:20

paid £13.50 to SMS to deliver my visa & documents.

10:29

was out of the building.

that was it. hope this has helped those of you who are going to have your interviews. just like others have helped me.

USA here i come.

Thanks for the recap!

It surprised me that you paid the visa fee at the embassy on interview day, though. They used to send that form with packet 4 and you had to pay in advance at Barclays (or wherever). I guess that's changed now?

The UK police forms are online.

This is the one I bookmarked for my fiance. http://www.met.police.uk/dataprotection/forms.htm#b

Since you have your NOA2, I'd go ahead and apply for it now - I've heard it takes all of 40 days to receive it and its valid for a year.
