I guess someone better run one of those decommissioned shuttles down to Jiffy Lube and have her serviced!

Some people in DC need to grow a pair and either get NASA humming again or gtfo of the space program completely. There is a reason they call it a bleeding edge and we have never been afraid of a little blood.

Agree!

Education is what you get from reading the small print. Experience is what you get from not reading it.

What a bunch of NASA hatin' anit-American commies. The space program of the 60's and 70's was a great source of American pride.

and jobs....

God created space so that the night sky would not be so dark.

Man, did she mess up big time....

So $ 60 million a person to go to the freaking moon is better than giving teachers a raise from $35,000 to at least $60,000 so they can educate the future moon walkers of America? You can't be serious, right? OR how about paying the people better money that protect us in every day life, like for example, the Police, you know those people who rush to save you when you need them?

$60 million a person is just putting fat money in pockets. There is no justification for spending $60 million a person to go to the moon. That is just taking U.S. citizens money.

Not sure where you are getting your numbers.. It would be awesome if we could get someone to the moon for $60 million.. We have spent many and many billions and only 12 people have been there. Was it worth it - damn straight. Much of those billions spent went into research for new technologies and building infrastructure. Increasing knowledge is a painful slow process but the benefits last forever even if it is just a stepping stone to the next improvement.

There are all sort of threads on this site that seam to wax nostalgic for a simpler time when things were "better"... Be it the fight for organics foods, against GM foods, blaming technology for everything.. That's all great if we want to have a few hundred million people living like monkeys.. That's not what we are doing, we are proliferating and the numbers we have require technology ans science to advance if we ever want to live in a world without famine, disease, and need.

It is pointless to teach people and then have nothing for them to which to apply that knowledge and expand what we know.. It will be expensive and those that want immediate needs met will fight it all the way.

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect
