Hi everyone,

First off let me say.. just found out today that my husband's I-601 waiver has been approved!!!!! So happy!

Long story short... My husband was deported back to Guatemala in Feb 2012 (no criminal history, etc.). I posted on here, probably about a month ago, that we sent our I-601 waiver to USCIS, without the I-212 (because the embassy did not check it off as being needed after his Visa appointment & a lawyer (that we did not use) told us that would be requested after we sent the I-601). We eventually got a RFE requesting the I-212 and some various other evidence. We sent the package back and it was received on 4/18/14.

Today we see online that the I-601 waiver was approved! My question is, does this also mean that the I-212 was approved? Since we sent the I-212 back with the RFE, I have no receipt number or anything along those lines... so I'm not exactly sure how to find this out. My husband said he'll call tomorrow, but who knows if they'll tell him anything.

I know the way we did things, isn't the normal process of turning in paperwork, but does anyone have any ideas/thoughts on the I-212 status?

Also, what usually happens next? We have to wait for him to receive the letter, but that will probably be in about 10 days and I'm anxious!

I know I summed up a lot, but hopefully that all makes sense. Thanks for any thoughts you have!

Probably not. Sounds like they just adjudicated the 601.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Most times an approval for I601 is an automatic I212approval

thats Y they process I601 first, there's no point in approving an

I212 if 601 is denied.....many CO makes mistakes in not ticking

both waivers leading to rfe....all deportees have to file I212 with

waivers packets, they most likely have up-dated but U can email

your embassy about it also ....gooodluck

Phew! Good news.. So my husband gets the mail about 2 weeks after they send it. So he finally got the receipt letter for the I-212 they received with the rest of the documentation for the I-601, on 4/18/14. So since we have the receipt number, we looked it up online and we saw that the I-212 was approved the same day as the I-601!

We are so relieved. Hopefully in the next week and a half we will have the approval letter. We've read that in Guatemala the turn around for the embassy to contact us is usually pretty quick. So I'm hoping for my husband to be home very soon!!

Oh and to answer your question jalvarez320 - our paperwork was through the Nebraska Service Center.
