Good day Trangnguyen90,

My wife fully understands your disappointment, it's unfortunate but the CO has a difficult job to do and indeed the presumption is on immigrating intent.

I (USC) assisted my wife's mother in completing the DS-160 for the B1/B2 Visitor Visa and I don't recall anywhere in the application whereby the applicant can "build or strengthen a better case" to ensure their return.

It seems to me that in and of itself, it's good advice insofar as providing documentation of those "ties" that could prove to the Consular Officer the applicant will return should the visa be issued. That seems contingent upon the CO asking for and reviewing any documents they bring with them to the interview. I've seen other posts, (from what seem like knowledgable VJ members) that say the application is reviewed and a decision is already made prior to the interview itself.

If you're in a position to do so and should her circumstances change, I would encourage her to apply again as I've read stories on VJ of approval coming after numerous applications. Probably the best advice I've seen so far is the advice to build up a travel history especially to those countries that require a visa which will show her compliance by returning as promised.

I wish you good luck. My mother in law will apply again 6 months hence.

Regards,

Torete
