While booking my bio-metrics appointment two weeks ago I put my visa class as 'IR1' just now realized that its 'CR1' as per NVC communications, can't reschedule my bio-metrics now coz the next available date is on the 30th of June and my consular interview is on the 17th of June :(

What shall I do? Shall I just go to my appointment and explain it to the officer concerned or book a new appointment?

Thanks dwheels and etrangais - even without the file, I thought there must be a record at the embassy since they scheduled the appointment date/time.

They actually don't. Surprising isn't it? Let's just say I found out the hard way.

Depending on how busy your embassy is, you have to give them time from when NVC (or DHL) claims the embassy received your file to when your embassy "scans" it. Ours took close to 3 weeks after DHL delivery. You don't want to show up to the interview only to be sent back home because of no physical case files.

Pls dwheels if I want to reschedule to an earlier date at the lagos u.s embassy, how do I go about it?

Until your casefile gets to embassy nothing you can do. Hopefully end of next week they will send off your casefile and then you can try and track and once there you can email embassy and ask. Remote change with Lagos to change but hey doesn't hurt to request.

Be sure and call like this time next week to see if they have shipped off. Than the tracking begins. See first post about that.

Guys, have a bit of a strange question. Spouse's interview is all set-up for the 2nd week of June in London (yes I'll update the tracker!) but ran into an interesting situation:

Because it took almost year to get through the initial USCIS processing (March 2013 until Feb 2014) in December last year my spouse signed a contract to work until the end of August at her job in the UK. At that point, when they asked her to sign the contract we were in the darkest depths of frustration with USCIS and with no light at the end of the immigration tunnel we jointly decided that it would be in her best interest for future job prospects in the US to ensure she was fully employed until at least the end of the Summer 2014.

Now it turns out that she may have her CR1 in hand and approved (fingers crossed!) by late June or early July. She would like to come out to visit the US for a week in July for my birthday and July 4th celebrations but needs to return back to the UK to finish her contract. Will this pose an issue with the visa? If she has it approved and arrives theoretically on that visa and has to leave again to finish up work can she then just reenter on the same visa or is there some kind of single-entry only and have to stay and wait for a green card before leaving again situation?

Sorry if this is a bit of a strange question. I also know that for many of us on this board the following issue seems a bit crazy, and a luxury since so many of us have been away from our loved ones for such a long time. But she and I made a joint commitment to her finishing a contract and a promise is a promise as much as it will hurt for her to finally enter the country on the visa we've waited so long for just to be apart an extra month...

Thanks for the help!

Not an issue at all. She will be fine. Thus the perks of a spousal Visa.

You can arrive and leave country the next minute. Just after a years time it gets hard to enter back without a re-entry visa you don;t have that issue so you are fine.

The stamp she gets (I-94 with a temporary I-551 (Green card) stamp) when she arrives with her Visa will suffice as her temporary Green card until hers arrives so no issue her leaving right away without the "green card" she has passport.

And not weird at all many in this journey in foreign lands have to give 3 months notice or risk paying big fines and maybe not being allowed to get on plane and rubbish like that. I feel for you all.

This is what this thread is for sharing of information asking questions as we wait for interviews. So you are just fine
