I never received an email with my case number and IIN#. I only received one letting me know to pay the fees and one for the checklist...

Hmm interesting. I know I called a week before and they said I did not have a case number yet. A week to the day I got an email with a case number and an AOS fee bill. I got a second email 5 days after filling the DS 261, and also an email after my payments arrived. I mailed my payment in.

Quick question on the AOS I-864 form:

We both live in Canada and my partner (USC) earns money in CAD dollar. He is keeping his job so we're including a letter from his employer stating that he is working from home once we move to the US.

On the I-864 form, Part 6. Sponsor's Income and Employment section, do I write the income amount in CAD dollar ($XX,XXX CAD) or convert the amount into the US dollar and explain it in the cover letter?

Your spouse has been completing his tax returns right?

I would put down the amount in CDN$ but also in a letter, stating how much it is in US$. Remember if he's getting paid in CDN$ you'll have to transfer it to the USA to move it so you'll always lose a percentage. You may want to inquire if the company can pay him in US$ after moving?

next time you call, ask the operator if they are able to tell the status. I know they can tell if mail is received for the case but has not been touched yet... Maybe it has staging levels for each scan.. WHO FRIGGIN knows???

yeap, they still did not touch any of my packets yet! Bye Bye June!!!!!!

Yes, he has been filing for US income tax (and CAD income tax) while living in Canada.

I'll put the amount in CAD and state how much it is in USD in the cover letter.

His employer will convert his salary from CAD into USD using the exchange rate when we move to the US.

Once received, NVC takes about 3 to 4 days (up to a week) to scan the packets in.

After the packets are scanned in, it takes 2 to 3 weeks for review.

So, give it about three weeks and then start calling them if you are patient enough.

Thanks! LOL!! I'm not THAT patient!! I think I started calling about our case number like 5 days after they received it lol....

So, we called NVC this evening. Everything else is fine except AOS line 13.a.1. We already sent a new I-864 form on April 30. Why can 't they open that email and 'complete' our case? How does it matter if petitioner put Adjusted Gross income instead of Total gross income? All they need is if petitioner has sufficient income.

Wait for 20 working days for this? Why?

I asked for expedite based on the fact that my step children are in danger living with their mother. My husband needs to get custody of them but has no real support system without me being there, so the court won't give him custody. The police and child welfare/social services is involved. That's the just of it without going into too much detail on a public forum. I explained the whole situation to a supervisor but it was not a good enough reason.

Amazing not good enough, wow what do they want I wonder this is sad. How heartless. :((F) (F) (F)
