On the I-864 form, Part 6. Sponsor's Income and Employment section, do I write the income amount in CAD dollar ($XX,XXX CAD) or convert the amount into the US dollar and explain it in the cover letter?

Uscis sent my e-mail that they shipped the approval to nvc

When the nvc will contact me

Read the wiki on the first post. It will explain alot.

Most people call regularly to get their case number and IIN#. I don't even know if they send out emails for that because everyone just calls. There is one contact number and its always busy. You just have to keep dialing

So today is a week since i received my wife's case and IV number...but still the payment portal is not open to pay and I stil have not received the invoice in the mail or by email. Its so frustrating! If things don't get moving, it might be end of August when we get interview and its going to make getting my stepdaughter into a good school tough! :ranting: And I just want to confirm that NVC is now requiring every single open space on the AOS and other forms to either have a N/A or a zero on it. Not a single line left blank?

Same here :( no AOS invoice yet and case number assigned last week :(

And... I'll try not to leave a single blank left

Sukie

That's a good idea to state the same amount on the form. We have a letter from his employer stating his salary in CAD.

Yes, it's well over the poverty line amount. I'll definitely mention it in the cover letter.

Meanwhile, I'll read the I-864 instructions to see if mentions anything about converting money into USD if you live overseas and make money in a foreign currency. ^_^

I wish both the US and Canada used the same currency (North American dollar?). That would make many issues so much easier.

Our first joint sponsor also bailed on us, so I understand :(

We were lucky to find another one soon who sent his documents the day after, very nice of him :)

He actually made a nice amount last year (175k according to his transcripts), but it concerns me a bit that he left that job on february in order to start his own company...

So he is not currently employed because he just registered the new company... And he told us that his expected income will be 50k this year.....

Therefore, we don't have any current paystubs or employment letter, only transcripts...

Any of you guys thinks that this will be a problem?

We are also including our assets in the petitioner's i-864 but they are all on foreign currency (which is not so easy to transfer to US dollars in our country)... That's why we decided to include a joint sponsor. But we thought that it wouldn't hurt to also include assets...

It's a sad day Finland as well, joint sponsor had a freak out and will not be joint sponsoring after all. I'm so glad she decided at the last minute to ditch us... Well it took us a day to find another joint sponsor, so we should be set on that, but it will of course delay us since the new joint sponsor has the collect all the documents. And if someone asks why we didn't use our current (hopefully) joint sponsor from the start, well, it didn't even occur to us that petitioner's own mother would bail out on us. But she just did, so there :(

Quick question on the AOS I-864 form:

We both live in Canada and my partner (USC) earns money in CAD dollar. He is keeping his job so we're including a letter from his employer stating that he is working from home once we move to the US.

On the I-864 form, Part 6. Sponsor's Income and Employment section, do I write the income amount in CAD dollar ($XX,XXX CAD) or convert the amount into the US dollar and explain it in the cover letter?

I would convert the amounts to USD and explain it in the cover letter. Also, include the conversion rate you used in the letter :)

I'm not sure if CAD can be used in the i-864, but I'm quite sure that my currency is not allowed xD so I'm including the conversion explanation in my cover letter

But maybe other canadians have better advice ^_^
