It's a sad day Finland as well, joint sponsor had a freak out and will not be joint sponsoring after all. I'm so glad she decided at the last minute to ditch us... Well it took us a day to find another joint sponsor, so we should be set on that, but it will of course delay us since the new joint sponsor has the collect all the documents. And if someone asks why we didn't use our current (hopefully) joint sponsor from the start, well, it didn't even occur to us that petitioner's own mother would bail out on us. But she just did, so there :(

IR1 took 520 days....

This is random, but I was wondering where everyone met their spouses? We have a huge variety of countries on this thread. I am wondering how everyone got together.. my husband was here on a tourist visa and was living with a mutual friend. I got laid off one spring and had some time on my hands so I went to hang out with my friend and there he was. We were friends for a year before we moved to BF/GF status. I met him only 4 months after he arrived in the US. He didn't speak a word of english. I used to bring him books so he could try to study english. I took him to NYC, Atlantic City, the Jersey shore for motorcross on the beach, the philadelphia Zoo, Amusement parks and countless trips to the mall. HA HA Museums and restaurants.. I could go on...

I met my husband online gaming, we were only friends at the time but we both joined a facebook group for the game and ended up adding each other to facebook. Three years later we randomly starting chatting on facebook and our relationship evolved from there. Chatting for hours and hours on FB chat, to using whatsapp so we could talk at anytime of the day. Eventually he jokingly asked me to come visit him after his recovery from surgery. I went to visit him almost every month for a year before we got engaged. After we got engaged I lived with him in the US for 5 months (as a Canadian visitor) and we got married during that time. I went back and forth to Canada a couple times and one of the last times I tried to visit him I was denied. That was when we sent in our paperwork for the i-130.

some posts cause my stress, some people are trying to be ahead of the game

examples:

sending more docs than NVC requires

predicting their checklists (blank boxes etc.)

.................

.................

it makes me feel that i missed something, forgot about something, something will go wrong

pls! be less stressed and more positive ... and PATIENT!

:crying::cry:

I have to agree about not sending more doc than NVC requires.... You don't have to prove anything to NVC... you are ALREADY approved.

I guess it makes them feel better but it just creates more junk for the reviewer to look through. Its better to make it straight and to the point. Don't add anymore garbage to the file. Take all your proof to the interview. If they need more evidence, they will ask.

And if you just fill out all the blanks on the forms, you'll be fine. and make sure all of your civil documents are in order.

~~Post containing excessive profanity removed along with post quoting. Posts minus the profanity returned below.~~

I'm worried about this too. School has a "winter" break in July and I was planning on giving my one month notice in June, that way the school would have plenty of time to find someone. But I refuse to put in my notice until my husband has that visa in his passport and his passport in his hand. My work doesn't know I'm leaving because I don't know when I'm leaving because these visa people are morons! Knowing our luck we'll have some other ####### screw up our case between now and interview date.

I suppose since they got my third checklist response this Monday I'll hope for a case complete in two weeks? #######...

Well, Lucybelle, You and I are going down the same road. Maybe we'll have the same interview date and we can all hang out in the room until they call us. Then afterwards a shot or two of tequila and a few Imperial's to celebrate .

I don't blame you for not giving notice yet. The way things are going, there will be another delay and you'll be stuck in CR without a paycheck.

My husband doesn't even get paid for farming with his family. He didn't take a city job because we never thought we'd still be at this stage. He sold his car and his motorcycle thinking that would give him money . He has since bought another tracker BUT there is no way he can drive that 2 hours to the city and 2 hours back everyday. That would be like working for nothing. So he is just waiting it out in the mountain. I should have gone to visit in March.. UGHHH hind-sight

And just to write something happy here as well: I met my husband while in college. A mutual friend thought we were perfect for each other and tried to set us up several times, sometimes very awkwardly :D The three of us would be talking outside the dorms and suddenly she just said bye and left us standing there haha. Eventually we realized that she was right (L)

I'm a fan of EDM music, especially trance music. In march 2011, before Ultra Music Festival began, i joined Twitter to socialize with people from #TranceFamily community. My husband was in Miami for UMF. One of the people (i followed) twitted about Ustream and some chat going on, i went to the website and saw my husband streaming music from his hotel room and ... that's how we met (on the ustream chat). He followed my Twitter account and we started to chat.

We're chatting and chatting and chatting, later we moved to Skype, it took many many months before we realized that there is something more than just a friendship between us. At the beginning it was all about music, later it turned into story of my life.

We met in person for the first time in Prague, in November 2011 (the most romantic city in the world), we spent there 10 days. From the first kiss i knew that i wanted to spend rest of my life with him. After 3 days of being together we made the decision about the "big move".

My husband moved to Poland in September 2012. He proposed on the same day at our apt. Told me, that he wanted to propose at the airport but gave up when saw my whole family there. It was supposed to be a surprise for me, but my family surprised him :)

We got married in April 2013 :)

Thanks !!

I am about to travel to the NVC and search for my package and hand deliver it to the reviewer. I am prepared to pay for them to look at it RIGHT NOW !!!!

When I told "Lisa Girl" that I had already sent a "certified copy" and it was received today. she snapped at me and said " a copy is not what they are looking for" and so my response was... " well then what else can I send?. There is no other option in Costa Rica" she says " it better have a stamp from the civil registry" and me again " yes, of course it does, just like the other one you already have !!!!!!!!!!"

wow unreal, good luck

Guess I won't be sending any more bonafide evidence. lol That's a good point.

LoveMyTico, do you know if having anything stapled will cause problems for us? I also just noticed that my wife's police certificate has her old passport number on it because her new passport wasn't yet issued by the time the certificate came in the mail (even though she had applied for it by then). Think this might be a problem?

Praying for you. It's terrible what they're doing with your case and docs. So dumb. :(

I would say just include a copy of the bio page of her old and her new passport along with the Police cert. In your cover letter just explain the situation. I doubt it will be an issue. You can just have her scan and email it to you and you can print it out. It doesn' t have to be certified or anything.

Thanks for the prayers !! GOOD VIBES for you . You were approved before me. They need to get going on your file !!

I recieved my checklist with 20 day by email so if it already 20 days for you than call them and

hope you get your case complete soon!!

my checklist was emailed within 24 hours of them telling me it was coming. We all got the email, Lawyer, Husband and myself.

saving a day or two by mail doesnt make as much difference as wasting weeks because of bad lawyer advise and mistakes in documents and forms. better to have done things right first time and as long as no checklist are requested you end up saving a lot of time already and the 1-2 day is irrelevant unless its near end of month really. but eitherway I just tried to give a tip about usps priority versus regular mail. good luck with your case ;)

you don't catch a cold from having wet hair or going outside without a jacket. You catch a cold from having a low immunity . Nobody is bashing Mexico or Costa Rica. Just a comment on the things they still believe. And it doesn't get cold in Costa Rica. definitely not like Philadelphia.

It does matter when your file gets delivered because NVC processes mail by the date received. The sooner the better. Initial package or checklist responses. at least in my opinion. Every second counts.

My lawyer tried to tell me to bring the birth cert and police cert to his office this Thursday ... ummmmm Sorry Charlie.. The police cert isn't even required ( do some research... cuz I did) and I am not wasting 4 days just so you can send a document 2nd day air...(6 day loss total) No thanks.. I will take care of this. and actually.. I Fedex'd a package to NVC at 4:30 yesterday afternoon and it is already at Londonberry NH. It will be at the NVC this morning.. Hopefully this package won't even matter

Always double check your documents and forms. Not only do you get delayed by RFEs and Checklists, but the time it takes for them to review the new items you send could be used to approve more applications. Save yourself and others valuable time!

Current Status: NVC:
-Assigned and Received NVC Case Number, IIN, and BIN April 18, 2014. (100% sure case # was assigned today because I called twice and it wasn't assigned in the morning when they opened but in the afternoon it was)
